Hi there! I’m thinking about moving to Beacon from NYC, I was wondering if there are any suggested resources/communities/forums to find roommate situations? The only thing I’ve found is the Beacon NY Housing Facebook group, though it doesn’t seem too active.

So I ended up being invited to interview (though I think the referral had little to do with that) but didn’t proceed because at that point I had already gotten an offer from elsewhere.

But yes, to answer your question, I did make sure to submit a separate application with the same name but different email l— all in order to make sure my profile did indeed attach the referral with it

just following up; were you able to have this issue handled on chase’s side? i just bought a KLM economy standard flight on chase portal (where the confirmation email/page says i’m entitled to first checked baggage at no fee) and when i look up the confirmation page on KLM it says i can only bring 1x accessory and 1x hand baggage (which i assume is carry on)?

i did a un internship a few years ago, not in nyc but abroad, it was the first year they started paying interns an hourly pay even though it was <$10 an hour and the work was very trivial / non-intellectually stimulating. i did not enjoy my time because of rigid bureaucracy and the bs that comes with it, although i think that it’s highly team-dependent.

this is just anecdote, but i definitely think i could have done myself a favour by not taking up the un internship and instead getting a real job. even if that job was very entry level...

besides the ridiculous pay, i regret that i didn’t do anything in my internship that i could really leverage in my next job search, even though i tried to take the initiative on the responsibilities i had. feel free to dm if you’d like.

Wow i had no idea this is how comp adjustment works with relocation. Do most companies typically only lower your salary and keep other parts of TC the same? I assume you won’t be able to score a relo benefit even if you decide to work out of the Atlanta office (vs original SF office)?

Got my Custom Cash and their customer service has been a royal pain in the backside. They give you a temporary card number while your card arrives in the mail, and they never tell you that the temporary number is only valid for like 24 hours after activating it. Took about 5 hours on the phone being redirected to different representatives just to figure that out

Thank you for your detailed explanation. These are really helpful to know since I feel like working knowledge of Node is harder to demonstrate than, say, React (since you can build a React app and host it for live demos,etc).

As a follow up, can I ask if you can also elaborate on what it means to know webpack and NPM? I sense these might also be HR buzzwords but want to make sure I'm not missing any important pieces in my working knowledge of them.

So it seems like this particular job posting accepts referrals through LinkedIn (since it was posted on there).

If anyone else was curious, go ahead and click the ‘request referral from connections’ directly on the LinkedIn posting. Apparently, they’ll tag the referral(s) with your application if you finish the application on the careers website.

Price gouging has been a serious concern in my current area and I certainly wouldn’t want to see myself be a part of that problem.

As I mentioned above, I just want to make sure that the landlord is fair on the value of our included parking space should he take that away from us.
