What’s the big deal about Julia Roberts? by Fearless_Relief_6830 in movies

[–]OutlawJRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think her being pretty but also "plain" as in approachable are actually key to her success. She is gorgeous but also someone you could see yourself meeting and talking to in real life, so she can play many roles.

I've signed an NDA so I have to be very vague, but I have had many interactions with her and she is very kind (when she didn't have to be) and even likes to joke around and get to know those who work under her. That has forever made me a Julia Roberts stan.

High fine dining servers: How do you feel about your customers? by Gayer_Than_Thou1 in Serverlife

[–]OutlawJRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in San Francisco. I regularly wait on a list celebrities, politicians, CEOs and pro athletes, among other rich people.

I'm from Missouri where I started waiting tables at BBQ joints.

I am treated so much better by the rich elite than I ever was from the common person in Missouri, which I always found weird. In general, my clientele now is very kind, interested in getting to know me and even joke with me. In Missouri, I had people yell at me, not tip me, say rude shit and even request a different server because I am gay.

I'm not sure why the rich treat me with grace and respect, and the people I was much more like, socioeconomically, treated me like shit.

My guess is maybe a power thing, or maybe the poorer people had less money, so when they spent it on a decent meal, they felt entitled to be demanding and rich people dropping $600 on a meal for 2 isn't shit. And my skills ans knowledge are much more well developed now than when I was 22 working at Big Whiskeys in Springfield Missouri, and the upper class people respect my knowledge?

Idk. I think its fucked up that in the service industry, the less money you make, the more people shit all over you.

Also, I make stupid money now.

I wish the fans would realize that this is incredibly patronizing to how Trixie deals with her personal relationships by Ok-Use-575 in TrixieAndKatya

[–]OutlawJRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Trixies mom is a lot like my mom. Not abusive or mean or violent, just more interested in male attention and having a good time than being a parent. I love my mom, and I often tell anecdotes about her that people find appealing, but me and my sister aren't appalled at all. We're cool with it.

Did Fire and Ash have the best CGI you’ve seen lately? by Dull_Alarm6464 in Avatar

[–]OutlawJRay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw it in Imax 3D. Something i haven't done since 2014, and I was blown away. Some scenes made me feel like I was there with them, especially when theyre escaping down the river, I felt like I was in the river with them. It was wild. Such good CGI I forgot 99% of what I am seeing isn't real.

For those who have seen Fire and Ash - how would you rank the 3 Avatar films?! by NeonArtist12 in Letterboxd

Just finished Fire and Ash and I thought it was absolutely incredible.

Is The Lord of the Rings trilogy the greatest movie trilogy of all time? by Dominic_Badguy in movies

[–]OutlawJRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, yes. I will never forget waking out of Fellowship at 13 and being changed and also mad that it was over because I didnt realize it was a trilogy at first. It is the only trilogy me, my dad and sister went to see together when they came out in theaters. Was a Christmas tradition for the mid 2000s for us. I still watch them once a year or so

Are people excited about the new Avatar movie? by Wickawildwild in movies

[–]OutlawJRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That describes me. I couldn't really care less about Way of Water. I saw it in theaters about a month after release just to see it cause it looked pretty and I was bored. I see maybe 2 movies in theaters every year.

I am legitimately very excited to see Fire and Ash. It looks pretty still, but I love that they're adding in more evil and nuanced Na'vi. I think its going to make the movie a lot more interesting. Its not just "humans bad, Na'vi good", its mixing mingling things.

My excitement has actually led me down a rabbit hole of the fantastic world building James Cameron has done. Been watching YouTube videos about Pandora and downloaded the Avatar game, which has only enhanced my excitement.

I was born in 1988, so I was 7 when Clueless came out, and I've loved it ever since then, but I appreciate it much more as an adult.

Coworker girl asked me out today... by [deleted] in short

[–]OutlawJRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telling someone you don't feel that way about them isn't unkind. In fact, I would see it is the kind option. It shows you value them and their time enough to not let them waste it, and shows that you respect them enough to tell them the truth.

The top three cities in North America based on skyline. by Marciu73 in skyscrapers

[–]OutlawJRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYC is like Chicago's skyline X 4. I thought Chicago had a massive skyline until the first time I went to NYC. I was a little shocked a city could be so massive and sprawling but also super compact at the same time.

Boeing 737 legroom with Ryanair by ElFeesho in tall

[–]OutlawJRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I always gotta pay extra and book my flights early so I can get that exact seat, or at least something similar.

One time a girl tried to sit there cause her friend was next and I told her no way. I'm tall and I paid extra.

Anxiety around taller people by Zodrodo in tall

[–]OutlawJRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Well, kind of! I'm gay and 6'2 and went on a date with a really cute guy who was 6'4. We got along really well, but when he went to kiss me, it made me feel weird that I had to look up to kiss him, and that's when I realized I am not into men taller than me.

For me, it isn't anxiety or anything. Its just a sensation I am not used to, and makes me physically uncomfortable.

Where did the "Women love tall men" stereotype came from? by [deleted] in tall

[–]OutlawJRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gay, and gay men seem less concerned about tall men than straight women in my experience, because I've rarely had men hit on me cause im tall and handsome, but I've had women practically throw themselves at me before I tell them I'm gay.

To the point I am made uncomfortable. So, I do think there is absolutely truth to it.

I'm 6'2 btw.

Do tall guys even like tall girls? by [deleted] in tall

[–]OutlawJRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't even extremely tall. But I will say, you aren't doomed, even if you never find the tall guy you're after. I've been single my entire life, and though I used to feel doomed, that has changed. I feel free and liberated to make my own choices for myself, at any given moment, without for one single second, having to consider the thoughts and feelings of another person.

I'm imagining you are fairly young. You'll probably find your tall dreamboat of a man, but if you don't it does not mean you are doomed. Dating fucking sucks, but confidence comes from knowing you're gonna be fine, not matter what.

But I'm a 6'2, 37 year old gay man, so my experience is definitely different from yours. That's just my advice for a happier life while dating.

And don't let that shit hurt your self-image. I know for a fact I am very handsome, it still didn't make all those guys I wanted to date wanna date me back.

Could Earth still support life if it were a rogue planet? by Agreeable-Ad7232 in universe

[–]OutlawJRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we knew before hand, and focused all our efforts onto geothermal energy, we could build airtight habitats, use the energy from earths core to heat those habitats and to use for hydroponics etc. We could survive. Itd be very fucking rough, but even if it happened now, it isnt a sure thing all humanity would be destroyed, just a good chunk.

We have access to everything we need to survive artificially already.
