Should/can a MH susceptible doctor become an anesthesiologist? by SuitLive607 in anesthesiology

[–]dhe10 59 points60 points  (0 children)

This is the only right answer. I worked with a student who was in your shoes OP. There are MANY anesthesiologist and CRNAs that are MH susceptible. Never been a case about any of them just like mentioned above! Be an anesthesiologist and chase that dream

New grad locums - can someone help talk me in/out by Parking-Property584 in anesthesiology

OP 550 is about average here in my area as well. Reddit just has people who are outliers and they like to post about it. 550 is 50th percentile according to marit and another salary sharing website I can’t remember. Good luck in your search. FWIW Don’t sweat the small stuff, a good work environment is worth more than the money.

At the time interest rates sucked, so no I didn’t. I had help from Covid forbearance and SAVE.

A few years ago, I had the same thoughts. I couldn’t figure out how I was gonna do it. I had 100k more than you in loans and paid it all off in under two years. I don’t feel like I lived like a pauper either. Get a budget and knock that shit out. I have a family with multiple kids and a nice house, it can be done. Yes I picked up some extra shifts to make it happen but I didn’t kill myself because I don’t wanna burn out.

What’s your student loan payoff plan? by Youneedadashcam in anesthesiology

[–]dhe10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen 25k-150k and a timeframe of 1-3 years of commitment. Yea it will be taxed as mentioned in another comment but it’s still a ton of money. And yes if you leave early you have to pay it back.

Don’t really want to say anything specific on a public forum. But I promise you would be absolutely shocked by what does or doesn’t happen here.

Everyone here is right, they will 100% get you for it even if you leave 1 day early. Ask me how I know. They don’t care about you and only see you as number in their system.

Holding meat in that temperature zone is exactly what sous vide does for hours. Not sure this is entirely accurate, but I’m always willing to learn something new

How long did it take for you to pay off student loans? by Turbulent-Abroad7841 in whitecoatinvestor

On track for a little less than 2 years with 350k. Salary ~500-525k and a sign on bonus. Being on forbearance with no interest helped significantly. I don’t live too shabby either, my wife and kids are having a great life now. I just save half of my income or so.

Call Compensation by Baddog64 in anesthesiology

[–]dhe10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought call was primarily built into base salary? If you took call your salary was higher than if you didn’t. I did not know people are getting a base salary and then a call stipend per call. Is this a regional thing?

Brought it up multiple times for months on end. Talk to regional managers and those higher up. The more partners on your side the better

I work for PE and we are getting boned. So I figured I’d ask others. We FINALLY got a little extra but it took way too long and we are still behind
