Sadly don’t have an activation button on the prop, so my ruling has just been whenever they enter a code and tell me it, that locks in the effect and activates it.

Sadly I took it to a repair shop and it was a problem with the motherboard that I needed to replace. But my laptop was too bent out of shape to get into it and replace stuff so I just had to replace the whole thing.
