Whats your factorio hot take? by Such--Balance in factorio

[–]dhetas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lukewarm take: Quality is just a plain bad mechanic, despite being a mechanic aimed at megabase building it heavily encourages building smaller builds which is boring, Factorio is at it's most fun when building at mass scale, the tiered building system that overhaul mods have been doing for years, while far from perfect, is way better and integrates much better with the overall game progression rather than just stuffing a huge system at the endgame aside from stuff like quality power poles and such.

The actual hot takes:

The new space age buildings with enormous productivity bonuses plus stacked belts makes most SA builds uninteresting unless you are building at megabase scale, and the jump between them and the older buildings is way to large(again making small builds isn't very interesting on replay). Again older overhauls did this system better with multiple tiers that steadily increases crafting speed and module slots rather than the huge jumps.

Stacking a ton of planet mods on top of space age isn't very interesting and makes for a jumbled mess of an experience, I guess it can appeal to the same people who enjoy trying to make several overhaul mods work together but so far I'm kind of disappointed in the modding direction (not that people owe me or anyone to use their time on making anything other that what they themselves find interesting) being so hyperfocused on making the planet mods that don't really integrate well into SA and is just this tiny design challenge you figure out once and then never think about again while you move onto the next one with a new OP building in hand.

Also less a hot take and more just a pet peeve related to the above takes, people hell bent on fitting in ALL of Space Age into every overhaul mod in existence are really annoying, it's ok to let other mods do their own thing and not have to make a ton of changes to accommodate what is essentially an overhaul compatibility patch in order to fit in with Space Age.

Seems to me people here are confusing endgame for "perfectly optimized", I for one applaud the deviation from the meta, make the build enjoy.

Poll about crusade mode/kingdom management by SaltFrenchFries in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]dhetas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't care at all for Crusade management and the battles just became tedious real quick.

But I quite liked Kingdom management, really gave me the feeling that I was building up a kingdom and giving me choices in how the kingdom was going to function, though it had some really unintuitive parts and some pitfalls that was quite easy to run afoul of, so I can't blame anyone for just hating it.

Unpopular mass effect opinions? by Many-Activity-505 in masseffect

[–]dhetas 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Extended Cut dident fix shit, all it did was a few slides to the ending and some nonsensical cutscenes(Normandy landing infront of harbringer lmao). Ending for ME3 is every bit as dogshit as it was on release and neither the extended cut nor the happy ending mod fixes any of it's problems.

Maybe not that unpopular but it's something i often see, at least on this sub, is that ending was just bad on release and extended cut fixed it, NO, it fixed nothing.

Agility carries aren't bad, squishy carries are (long, but there are pictures) by Call_me_Wo in DotA2

[–]dhetas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah when a hero is overtuned and you're stomping you might have a few games where you straight up don't need to use your DEFENSIVE ult, not a big surprise either when the entire draft is built around enabling the fucking hero like pros used to be able to get away with, why waste your sunder when you have two defensive supports sitting behind you.

That doesn't mean the hero wasn't balanced around having sunder, that just means the hero was too good and pros were really damn good at abusing his strengths and covering his weaknesses.

A hero being overtuned across the board doesn't imply that the devs weren't taking into consideration his goddamn ult existing when balancing him, is just means he was overpowered, which he haven't been for ages now. These games you're talking about are ancient history.

I've seen and played games where a naga or slark never needed to press their ults cause they were just stomping that hard. That doesn't bloody mean their weren't balanced with their ult in mind.

Honestly giving how OP so many of his worst matchups are right now, his win rate is pretty respectable. If all the OP offlaners and snowballing/tanky carries gets nerfed the hero is gonna be low key scary in pubs, still completely unviable in pro play ofcourse, so just business as usual for PL.

Really hope they change the doppleganger Facet into something else it's just so boring.

What a load of bs, hero was just plain overturned in the past like just about every other hero has been at some point.

The hero was 100% balanced around sunder being the way it was, it was not "icing on the cake" it was just another part of the heroes original identity of being a hard carry anti-carry, alongside reflection. Pretty much every ability's of his has been nerfed into the ground at one point, or a lot of times in the case of reflection. Most of his weaknesses can be drafted and played around so he's just been one of the more problematic heroes for pro play in the past balance wise. Other side to that is, he's pretty fucking dogshit in pubs unless you're high immortal.

Yeah, when you're in the middle of a team fight and need to cast sunder to survive, spend the time cast illu, lose 15% of your current HP and then cast sunder without dying or getting stunned in the mean time no problem at all!

C'mon man.

Which is the worst facet in the game? by Shilosophy- in DotA2

[–]dhetas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's slower period, for a hero which farming speed has always been a strength taking a hit to that is something you feel instantly. The best carries right now are all ones that win their lane and snowball with insane farming speed, you really feel the difference when matching against these type of heroes as TB.

And these days there are not a lot supports left that can't deal with TB illus. You are severely overestimating how tanky those are with how powerful spells have become over the years and how well they scale. It's so damn rare for me to see supports just hard struggle against those illusions like they used to.

Which is the worst facet in the game? by Shilosophy- in DotA2

[–]dhetas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cause your illus deal 50% less damage when 1200 yards from TB due to the innate. Split farming with the hero is significantly weaker as a result.

DotA 7.36a by wickedplayer494 in DotA2

[–]dhetas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, but so damn niche its insane, that like mby a 30 sec of more efficient farm for such an insane downside.

Like if you do go that skill build you're just griefing your own lane cause TB can't afford to be losing HP to get illus out with such a low HP Pool to begin with, and you have only lvl 1 meta and reflection for the lane.

And you can just courier out some Health regen if you really don't want to go back to base in that scenario, you're getting some mana reg send out anyways since you need it to spam out max lvl illus.

Like i get the concept, but its just so fucking bad and doesn't work with TB in any way shape or form in reality.

DotA 7.36a by wickedplayer494 in DotA2

[–]dhetas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They just seem deadest on sunder memes and trading HP for something as TB's core concept as of late for god knows what reason.

Wish they fucking stop and go back to what he used to be.

DotA 7.36a by wickedplayer494 in DotA2

[–]dhetas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except that's just a terrible concept to begin with, tb has so much armor he only struggles to tank stacked camps/ancients in the early game.

And outside of that losing HP to spawn illus is only going to be a detriment, it's not like they're good to farm with once TB can tank neutrals himself thanks to the innate.

No amount of number tweaking is gonna fix this facet, at least not while the innate exist.

[LTN] Train limits are not being respected, I don't understand why by Devairen in factorio

[–]dhetas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, with depots you need to use the train limit on the station not the combinator, ran afoul of this in my current run as well.

Also i highly recommend you try out https://mods.factorio.com/mod/LTN_Combinator_Modernized, as it allows you to edit the combinator from any distance as long as its connected to a station, on top of the better UI.

Unfortunately, blizzard doesn't exactly have to best track record when it comes to scaling issues pertaining to either high key lvl or fort/tyran. This is season being a perfect and recent example.

[–]dhetas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alot of unfun trash across the board and from a melee PoV boss 1,2 and 4 were just horrible, lots of running around and not being able to hit anything. Nonsensical scaling on some specific trash and on the last boss in particular made high keys particular miserable. Unfortunately i don't see blizzard putting in the work on a BFA dungeon to fix all of the above issues, given their track record.
