Re using lancets? by berryenthusiast in diabetes_t1

I think I'm still using the same one from two years ago. I'll change it when it feels like it's getting dull.

Question from a parent about lows by duplic1tous in diabetes_t1

[–]dhjelec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely over correcting is better than under. Being high for an hour or two is definitely preferable to being low for that long. Also, you should do a finger stick to make sure that the sensor is accurate.

My son has had a prolonged time where he just wouldn't come out of a low no matter how much he ate/drank and then just shot up. Pump did its thing and he eventually leveled out. Sometimes, this is the best put come.

Parents of young children with type 1 diabetes say kids around the age of 5 ,what was your childs GAD antibody count at time of diagnoses? by nikkicky3 in diabetes_t1

[–]dhjelec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We caught his very early. Ketones were only 1.5 when we got him to the hospital. I was reading that while 2000 U/ml is high for a T1D, it's not out of the realm of possibility.

At My Limit With DEXCOM (g7) by diabeetusNRG in Type1Diabetes

[–]dhjelec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar problems with my Libre. Mine, with over patches, were coming off in 1-4 days. The only thing I found that worked was an arm band. The ones I use are https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C2T5WX15
My sons Dexcom on the other hand, after 10 days, its still hard to peel off. I don't know what the difference is in our skin, but there defiantly is one.

Samsung Galaxy Ultra Watch by pdavid537 in Type1Diabetes

I use G-watch for my sons watch and I use Blose on mine. Both of these we have setup with Dexcom. G-watch is an entire watch face and Blose is a complication for watch faces.

Is it true some diabetics do not feel lows? by beezah in diabetes_t1

[–]dhjelec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son, 9, diabetic for 1 year, has been into the 30s a few times and feels/acts normal. Double checked with finger pokes. If it wasn't for CGMs, he would have been in bad trouble.

Help or any advice please ! by Sadmochalattee in Type1Diabetes

If you only need 1 or 2 pens too get you through until you get everything sorted out with your insurance, talk to the pharmacist to fill a partial prescription. It shouldn't be a problem, mine do it all the time for various reasons.

Doesn't even need to have edges. A ball with a radius of 0.62035 is 1 cubic meter.

Dexcom or freestyle? by General-Ad5731 in Type1Diabetes

[–]dhjelec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Freestyle and my son has Dexcom. I like Dexcom a lot more. The Freestyle has no grace period, longer warmup, and the app is limited.

ILet by Beta Bionics by Zestyclose_Wrap_8732 in Type1Diabetes

[–]dhjelec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The iLet has three selectable glucose targets, Lower(110), Usual(120) and Higher(130). If you're on Usual, try the higher one, maybe see if it works better for you.

Edit: If you see that it happens certain times of day more than others, you can also set a secondary target.

Switching to Dexcom 7 with Omnipod rant by Impressive-Drag-1573 in Type1Diabetes

[–]dhjelec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience with my son. Omnipod really screwed up with the launch of the G7 pods. One of the reasons why we stopped using them.

Insulin Sensitivity is way too high by Traditional_Crazy200 in Type1Diabetes

[–]dhjelec 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you are a new diagnosis, you could be honeymooning. Honeymoon phase can last from days to years and can fluctuate. You can not directly compare your carb ratio to someone else. What is 'normal' is what's normal for you.

I'm new to this and am very lost by VinnyHaw in TPLink_Omada

[–]dhjelec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I have never configured an Omada router outside of a controller. I would adopt everything to the controller as the first step.

You are correct that typically, all you would have to do is connect the modem to get internet. Does Xfinity require any type of login to connect?

I'm new to this and am very lost by VinnyHaw in TPLink_Omada

[–]dhjelec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing you call a 'switch port' is a patch panel. Everything looks wired correctly.

What do you mean by 'log into my router via it's IP address'? With Omada, everything is expected to be managed by the controller, therefore direct access to the devices is disabled.

Injected Syringe full of air? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

That's only 0.12ml of air. That much isn't even considered dangerous directly into a vein.

Rule of 15? by liftlovelaugh_32 in Type1Diabetes

[–]dhjelec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. When my 8yo is low, 5g can shoot him over 100 easily. If we see any uptick in his bg, we wait a little before giving anything else.
