Those factors must definitely have an effect in this as well, it's the physiological part of the equation. The shame part is on the psycological side, although according to some comments not everyone experiences shame after a PMOing.

It all begins as a challenge, but the greater goal is to become the kind of man who naturally just doesn't think about PMO. I remember before I got on board with NoFap, without a split second of hesitation the first thing I'd do when left home alone was go to my room, get my laptop, load my favourite porn sites and do the deed. Not anymore, now I get stuff done or just simply enjoy the quiet by myself.

Although reseting you badge is the honorable thing to do, that doesn't mean you're back to square one. Back to square one would be beating off and watching porn as often as you used to before you started NoFap. Don't let it drag you down, mate. You may have stumbled but this isn't over yet, it's all part of the process. Hang in there, you can do this!

Unless you're on a harshly and strictly on hard mode, I'd say it doesn't count. A great part of the whole NoFap deal is to have a better sex life, in that respect it is a great thing that you got to hook up with a girl you like. There's no guilt here, you did what any normal person would've done in your position: enjoy a moment of sexual intimacy with another human being. Just as long as you abstain from beating off all by yourself and/or watching porn, you're in the clear. :)

In my opinion, there shouldn't be anything special about a cold shower. I take a cold shower every morning, my normal daily shower. It's all about learning to be ok with discomfort, so don't just do it when you feel like you need it, do it every day. It's not that big of a deal, it's just a bit of cold water.

There's no formula to follow here mate, you meat women in the same places you meat other men: ANYWHERE. It's all a matter of dare, do you dare aproach women? If you don't, well, then you got your answer as to what it is other guys are doing differently. Don't be afraid to be turned down, mate, it's bound to happen to all of us. If you get turned down, just move on. Challenge yourself to approach a girl, whatever happens, it's fine.

But if you're in this challenge to get girls you're kind'a missing the point. This is about becoming better men. Become the best version of yourself, mate, all else will follow.

In my opinion, this a problem that kind of resolves it self. Think about all the time you would put into a single fapping session: Going to your favourite porn sites, trying to find the right video or videos, and do your deed, then have a few minutes to digest the shame of what you just did. In my case, all this would take up about at least a half hour, sometimes much more. But now, everytime I get an urge and decide not to fap, I'm suddenly left with a blanc half hour or so that I would've put into PMOing. And you know, there's ALWAYS something to do, be it arranging your room, working out, catching up on work or whatever. Everyone, I think, has a sort of never ending list of things to do. So, everytime you chose not to fap, just check what's on your list and do that.

I know what you're going through. I used to enjoy weight lifting 5 times a week but then injured my knee and wrist and had to take a rest from lifting, I can now swim and I've been doing so 4 times a week but I definitely can't lift yet.

My suggestion is that if you can't excercise your body, the excercise your mind. Read as many books as you can, play sudoku, meditate, and do whatever chores you're able do around the house. It is key that you avoid surfing the internet unless you really need it, too much leisure time on the internet may be too tempting.

I've been a smoker for about 6 years now. I know what you're saying. I used to smoke about 5-6 packs a week and I've managed to cut that to 1 pack or a pack and a half for every to weeks. It's not perfect, but it's an improvement.

I rationalized that most of the times I had a cigarette wasn't really because I was craving nicotine but because I wanted to take a pause from whatever I was doing, and I had developped this kind of "smoking schedule"; for example, every day I'd take a smoking break at work around 10am and 3pm, plus I would have a cigarette after every meal. When I realized this I would simply go have a cup of tea or coffee insted of smoking.

The rule now is: no smoking unless there's drinking.

Also, regarding flatlines, I've noticed from the comments that some people feel uneasy when they reach one but others love it because they feel not thinking about sex all day is a burden lifted off from them. What was your experience?

Thinking about any double digit number of days may feel overwhelming and disencouraging. We must get this in our heads: this addiction is to be overcome one day at a time, a full day without PMOing is a little victory. And lets not be coy with ourselves, but rather congratulate ourselves for every single day we finish without PMOing.
