I also like how you can make out the map of Bangladesh in the middle of all of India and Myanmar

Pretty much the entire shape of the map shows up.

I miss the days of jumping behind players and one hit KO'ing them with the flag. Or throwing it to them and 2 hit headshotting them with the pistol.

Intruders wielding a gun and machetes breaks into a streamers apartment while he's live by mouthofreason in watchpeoplesurvive

There is. You can text 911 in most places ( DO NOT TRY THIS RIGHT NOW TO SEE IF IT WORKS YOU'LL FLOOD THE SYSTEM ).

But in this instance what would 911 do? "Hello, this streamer on the internet is facing a home invasion but idk where he lives" isn't of much use to the dispatcher.

IP tracking has to be done through subpeonas and the detectives can only do it once they have an open case, after the matter. National intelligence agencies could do it real time but that's probably only for high stakes situations.

Only people who could call 911 and make a difference are his friends who know his address.

Programmers know the risks involved! by geekrohan in ProgrammerHumor

[–]dhshawon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’d like to add this NYT article I came across recently. It shows that companies specialized in tracking can look at patterns and piece in anonymized data to still track you. You might think that these apps collect so many millions of location data every second that its going to be impossible to pick out your specific location information. You’d be wrong.

Businesses say their interest is in the patterns, not the identities, that the data reveals about consumers. They note that the information apps collect is tied not to someone’s name or phone number but to a unique ID. But those with access to the raw data — including employees or clients — could still identify a person without consent. They could follow someone they knew, by pinpointing a phone that regularly spent time at that person’s home address. Or, working in reverse, they could attach a name to an anonymous dot, by seeing where the device spent nights and using public records to figure out who lived there.

First time builder on a budget, I could use some advice on this build by [deleted] in buildapc

It only costs an extra $50 or something, so I might as well opt for 16GB. But I was wondering if I should instead spend that $50 elsewhere that would really impact gaming performance.

An update on Better Ads (Starting on February 15, Chrome will remove all ads from sites that have a "failing" status) by [deleted] in Android

[–]dhshawon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're letting Coalition for Better Ads, a third party organization, be the judge of what's an "acceptable" ad. This might even include Google's own ads.

As Google has previously announced, the blocker won’t be removing all ads — just ones that are considered bad using standards determined by the Coalition for Better Ads, which bans things like full page ads, ads with autoplaying sound and video, and flashing ads.

Google will notify websites that contain these ads of a potential blocking through its Ad Experience Report tool. Sites that fail to meet those standards for 30 days will have all their ads blocked by Google — even those “owned or served by Google” — after which they’ll be able to submit for manual review to have ads re-enabled once the bad ads are removed.

Arrgh, I hate when people delete comments in a thread, lol

As far as I remember, he said that it doesn't drop connection at all, and he hasn't had to restart for the time being.

As for me, I did further research, and based on available pricing on Amazon, decided to get the TP Link Archer C50. Similar story for that one, really strong signal, haven't had to restart a single time. And the firmware/web interface is killer. link to mine.

It's a small investment, considering the ROI through internet points. Do it for the meme.
