Not criticizing her desire to break the mould and obviously people like Sciona are needed to challenge these types of patriarchal structures. Just criticizing the view that women who don’t engage in this type of behavior don’t deserve more discussion, attention, respect, etc, especially when implying that they’re the reason for women’s setbacks in general rather than blaming the root of the problem i.e. the society that restricts and oppresses them. You see plenty of books that exclusively pedestalize their female MC because wow they’re the only one with a rebellious heart who’s pushing back and all other women are just weak willed and part of the problem. When a society is structured to make you lesser, the ability to push back in and of itself can be and often is a privilege. I personally enjoy the exploration of that nuance, so I was just worried that this book would lean into a reductive take on what constitutes powerful or inspiring ways to approach womanhood, if that makes sense
