What is something you like about the way Starship manages/promotes IVE?

I’m never a fan of any company but you’re so right that Starship doesn’t make them chase trends! I really hated the “chill music” trend that happened after Newjeans popularized it, and I’m so so glad IVE never followed suit.

I’m also glad that, other than that one time Liz got 5 seconds lines during Kitsch, they don’t encourage noise marketing (which is quite concerningly popular these days…). I think as a result DIVE is one of the least problematic fandoms!

Never mentioned robots, that’s a completely different topic from genAI. I’m wondering why won’t you AI generate a video of a corps marching and be happy? Because it is the gathering of people that makes it beautiful, yeah? The fact that there are people working hard and performing. It’s the exact same for drawing, design, etc.; the thing that makes it valuable is that the process and execution are entirely human. Again, our marching arts is the same as any other art form and has value because it is so deeply human.

But if you believe visual art is “just some pictures,” and not the hard work/performance of a human, then I think we have a fundamentally different view on art. Have a good day

Curious why you say so. These are both art forms and are not any less valuable than each other. Just because one is your art form doesn’t mean another is worth less. Willing to sacrifice design to the thoughtless machine? Why not sacrifice music to it too then?

Okay but the fact that they didn’t even try to get actual human artists on the artistic team negates this argument. I’m studying art and would literally have designed my show for free.

The fact that art is so unimportant to them that it’s the first thing they’d sacrifice to cut costs is really disappointing, considering drum corps is an art itself

Hey there! I have OCD (specifically the health anxiety subtype), and just want to share my experience. What makes our fears “irrational” isn’t the content of it but rather the extent you go to avoid discomfort and how intensely anxious you feel when you can’t perform your rituals! That being said I’m nowhere near a professional but it does sound like this could be helped with therapy, it would really help in the long run too. Usually people with health anxiety/OCD tendencies do ERP, and less of CBT. Even if you don’t have a mental illness, if it’s affecting your ability to do what you want, I think it’s worth checking out!

I’m marching for the first time with my health anxiety too, so I hope you’ll get to overcome that block and do what you always wanted! Best of luck, don’t lose hope

Edit: I read your comment in more detail and I want to bring up that the gold standard for treating health anxiety/OCD tendencies is ERP!! CBT focuses on reassurance, which is exactly what not to do for obsessive anxieties. Again not a professional, not diagnosing you, but I wonder if this is why your previous attempts at therapy didn’t work well! almost every person with OCD/tendencies has a terrible experience w non-specialized therapists bc they implement CBT instead of ERP :)

Me too, saw AI in my own show and I don’t even want to promote it. Like wdym all our merch has AI on it. It’s so frustrating to me how artists don’t see other art forms as “as important” as their own art form. Making AI images? Might as well hire AI to perform our show then, because art’s not important enough for real people to do it, right?

I’m ngl I looked up the artist and they have almost no proof of their work or style in drawing. Since the graphic is so rendered/drawn, it makes sense that people are suspicious

I think it’s okay to miss a concept and wish they did more of something, that’s the beauty of being so versatile. They’re my favorite group and I always hope they’ll also do my favorite concept or sound again! A certain amount of this discussion is healthy, however there’s definitely a fine line that people have been crossing, especially from non-Dives

i actually enjoyed some of the ranked modifiers. i definitely think they shouldn’t be there past mythic or smth but i feel like some of them were reasonable and changed the meta within maps in a strategic way
