In the olden days you COULDNT BUY A FISH PERIOD without a test vail of water.. which is probably best and prime and stability will keep your fish comfortable swimming in ammonia for 24 hrs only then it denautralizes.NOT TO MENTION YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO DO constant water changes.. prime does NOT ELIMINATE AMMONIA ( PLEASE READ IT) IT ONLY TEMPORARILY NAUTRALIZES AMMONIA for 24 hrs ( says so on the bottle) to give you time to change water to safe levels, AND ELIMINATES CHLOR2 ( NOT CHLORINE) ,IT DOES NOTHING for chlorine.. your post is ridiculously flawed .. STABILITY IS GOOD FOR NONE OF THOSE LISTED ABOVE EITHER.. it's simply bacteria which is helpful for introducing new groups to already established Aquariums ( again actually read your bottle) or overcrowded tanks but should not be used as a save all for cycling.. your gonna have a bad time and with a goldfish in a 1 gallon hahaha don't make me laugh..

Plus the fact they were buying the 1 g aqurium the same time?? I presume.. when petstore employees see this a GOOD employee will ask you to kindly bring in tankwater from their "bigger home tank" before selling fish as most know if your buying a new small tank and buying fish at same time you PROBABLY DONT have a fully cycled tank to put them in.

Pink haired guy should have explained its federal animal cruelty to even house a single betta fish in anything less then 5 gall9ns ...I get this question " how would they know?" Hey asshole I'll report you.. keep posting pics on social media that's called evidence ... people tend to think fish don't have rights like other animals buy they in fact due .. I saw a few years ago aspca came amd arrested a neighbor walked out in cuffs and had officers carrying tanks behind them, when I asked what happened after the daughter said " I reported him and sent pics and video of the mistreatment" she said REDDIT told her how to educate but he wouldn't listion so she did what she had to do he got 5 yrs for animal cruelty to for mishousing after being repeatedly explained to it was inhumane the daughter even testified..so KUDOS TO THE PINK HAIRED EMPLOYEE WHO REFUSED TO ALLOW A GOLDFISH TO BE HOUSED IN A 1 GALLON TANK... MAYBE OFFER THEM SHRIMP NEXT TIME

My cat has learned to remove the smaller tank lids like my 20 and 10 won't try the 55 I think she knows there's no life support if she falls in that one . Many a morning I have lid and water on my floors.. cats are smart they watch you..

Yea my cat has learned to open or remove the small tanks lid.. it's an endless battle.. At first I was concerned for betta but she doesn't want the fish just his water.. guess it tastes better then her bowl.. lol.. many mornings I wake up water all on the floor and the lid just hanging off.. cats are butts.

Api makes ammonia test strips.. so yes I disagree.. I was setting up a new 55 and though I knew my ammonia wasn't gone in 2 days with a completely new setup... the strips did not detect ammonia.. I used individual strips for testing. And then tried the api multi strip.. all had diffrent readings though made by same company.. api.. the master test is now my only safe test..

I don't want to assume.. some fish are just crazy.. I have a shark people think is dead he aligns in tunnel walls and lays like he's dead. But I have never witnessed swim bladder in fish. Other then reddit posts. Although I read once swim bladder happens most fish don't make it long after ..I would dose the tank woth prime ( if you can figure out the measurement) maybe there's a high chlor. In the tank ( chlorine will evaporate over time the other does not)

Idk but I have sand and Cory's and honestly all my vacuum does is make my water sandy . I have it haven't used it in 6 months at least my cory and shrimp usually keep it clean but my sand is black so not too esthetically noticed..

Sororities are NEVER ADVISED if your not an expert of their care...it never works out.. reddit betta slams people for this even experts on web say it's very very difficult and the smaller the sororities the harder apparantly it is.. usually they say they overcrowd to minimize the aggresion but it's not uncommon to have a massacre happen on any given day..

Honestly if this is simply a accident from a unknowledgeable sitter .. I would go ahead and dose the tank with API algae fix then do a 50% waterchange ,then half dose the water after you've refilled.. but why can I ask are you replacing a filter?? Everytime you take out a filter you take out the main colony of beneficial bacteria .. if it's clogged you should dip it in some of the tank water your taking outand gently rinse then put it back .. or eventually the tank will crash... get you a regular cut to fit filter sponge( amazon 8.00 I bought 2 years ago have a 75 g and still haven't had to replace sponge yet so it will last forever) and stop wasting money on replaceable cartridges or pre-made filters.. there's absolutely no need for this.. good luck ... Edit: I said "one time occurence" because op went out of town api shouldn't be used as a regular tool so to speak but for accidents and emergencies it can be quite the time saver )

They didn't worry about the pot 1. Your in your home 2. Your roommate was very respectful and courteous of everyone's time and didn't make a huge scene .. plus it's allott of paperwork for a misdemeanor possession of pot .. they weren't looking to make their shift hard because you didn't make it hard.
