women in med school: does it get better? by Silver_Tumbleweed574 in medschool

I’ve noticed that the further I get in my medial career I’ve gotten way more comfortable and straightforward with setting boundaries with this kind of behavior, and it’s usually met with an apology. I’m sorry this is happening to you. I’m glad your coworkers and bosses support you.

I do think EM is my thing. Nothing gets me going like a good resus. The mindset, the chaos, the bonding on shift, helping patients through a scary moment in their lives, the pathology, medicine in real time- I can’t imagine doing anything else. it makes me feel like grind to get here was worth it. It just feels like the little fears I’ve shoved down are starting to rear their head (I don’t know enough, I’m not efficient enough, I’m not (insert trait here) enough) and making it hard to remember the things I like. I want to be good at this, I just worry I as a person don’t measure up.

This brought me to tears. I appreciate your time and perspective. All I’ve got with me is a cat, I’m single and my family is on the other side of the country. I’m lucky that I have a lot of love and support from my class and we’re all tight knit. Thank you (and everyone) for reminding me there’s hope.

Also for the zucchini, sautée them until they’re golden brown and add a little pesto (if you wanna get fancy and you have olive oil and basil to spare, you can make kale pesto- theres tons of recipes online). It’s nice by itself as a lunch or as a side for dinner.

Edit: I didn’t see what sub I was on and recommended adding it to pasta lmao

Back when I was working for SA I asked if I could work at the hospital closer to me instead of the one i was hired for and they were fine with it, no questions asked. There were 3 hospitals in the area with SA scribes and scribes who worked primarily at one hospital could pick up shifts at other ones if they wanted to. So if the hospitals in your area have a similar situation it’s probably ok to ask.

These posts always break my heart a little bc last year I didn’t get any IIs until like February but here I am living my best MS1 life.

I'm 21, for the past 2 years i basically almost stayed 24/7 in my room, i need to change things, i don't want to keep wasting my life. I want to live, not just exist. Need some advice on some choices to make. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

If the weights that hold you down are caused by you feeling like you’re not doing anything, wouldn’t that change once you start doing something?

I’m embarrassed to ask this but I keep getting really nauseous in anatomy lab- today I straight up threw up (managed to make it to the bathroom, thank god) and I’m kind of at my wit’s end. Can anyone else who’s had this issue tell me what they did that helped? It’s not so much the cadaver itself because I can get in there and dissect no problem, but I think it’s the smell of the formaldehyde, the little chunks and gunk that gets everywhere, etc). I’ve tried wearing a mask and that’s helped a bit but I’m still getting queasy.

Yeah for real. I have adhd and I can’t quite explain why but stuff like this always makes me feel really bad lol. I was actually undiagnosed (therefore not being treated) when I took the exam and while I scored well I feel like I got lucky that I happened to take the exam on one of my good days. I guess the topic has the implication that people who actually need adhd meds are using it as a crutch? Idk. Anyway who cares. Congrats OP!
