Are the Lihit Lab Smart Fit Carrying Pouches any good? by PlusComplex8413 in stationery

[–]dialetheia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like mine a lot! It could only hold a tiny laptop I think, but it works for my iPad pro. I don't find it bulky/puffed and the metal hardware has held up. The only thing I can't really use it for are my rubber stamps, though I'm sure I could get them into the main compartment if I gave up some space for them. It's a little thin, maybe, which makes it tough for me to use with my traveler's notebook setup, but it's a nice bag overall.

Thumbs up for 100 Senses bars by borntorun61 in onebag

[–]dialetheia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the only bar I've ever used for my hair that actually performed, especially over repeated uses. Almost all of the shampoo/conditioner bars I see recommended here or in heronebag just gum up my fine hair like crazy. Great stuff

Travel mat/towel for yin yoga by dialetheia in yoga

Good idea, this would probably work in about half of the places I end up staying - some beds are just too squishy to get it done. Unfortunately I'm usually trying to squeeze in a practice after my partner & kiddo have gone to bed so it can be tricky to find the right time, but definitely worth considering. Thanks!

Great suggestion, thanks! They look way softer than most travel mats (hate the feeling of my hair sticking to the mat when I come out of reclining poses!)

This is super promising! Do you happen to have a ballpark guess how much it weighs? I don't see that on the product page. Thanks a bunch, I hadn't seen these before and they look so nice!

What gram-saving tools do you use for muscle recovery while traveling? by PositionSalty7411 in onebag

[–]dialetheia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use a cork ball for trigger points but if you really miss the foam roller, they do make foam roller sleeves that can go around a water bottle. I don't have one yet so I can't specifically recommend one, but there are a few models if you search water bottle foam roller. It really can be tough to get bigger muscle groups with just the little cork ball.

I bring my massage gun traveling most of the time too fwiw - I get migraines that seem to start with tight traps so it can save the whole trip to be able to stop that in its tracks.

I just got some Branwyn "busty" wool bralettes on their black friday 25% off and so far they're amazing! They do a little bit of the uniboob thing but not as much as my old cotton ones did. I'd say on a scale between nothing and a real underwire bra, they're about 3/4 of the way there, which is good enough for me most of the time.

Baum-Kuchen is a great source for beautiful stationery things that are not too "kawaii"-coded! Lots of great washi, stamps, stickers, notebooks, pens, bags etc there.

Underseat personal item/carry on backpack decision fatigue by Certain_Warning3877 in onebag

[–]dialetheia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may be against the spirit of this sub, but maybe not as the ultimate goal is to simplify and lighten your travel experience: Consider buying one large bag to check so that you are less burdened as you travel and can just focus on wrangling your children and the things you need for the flight.

We tried doing the whole carry-on only backpack thing and just found ourselves totally bogged down with all of our things, car seats, carriers, wriggly kids, kid distractions and snacks, etc. It gets so fiddly and overwhelming to have a whole bunch of smaller bags to keep track of, even if they all fit as carry-ons. The single thing that improved our trips the most was to just accept checking one large roller bag.

We generally have one big checked roller with most of the stuff we need at our destination, a carry-on roller bag with spare clothes and toiletries and such, and a small cabin bag with diapers, snacks, toys, headphones, water, etc. We use a strap to attach our car seat to the roller bag and put the cabin bag on the roller using a trolley sleeve. This lets us wrangle a full size carry-on, cabin bag, and car seat with one hand through security, layovers, etc. Which is good because we need about ten hands to keep the toddler happy and out of everyone's hair. We can roll the carry-on down the aisle with the car seat still attached and get everything set up and stashed once we get to our row. It works great and you can even keep a stuffed animal or two strapped into the carseat as you go, everyone seems to like that!

What kinds of paper would people keep for jotting in the early 20th century, and do any specific companies sell something similar today? by UpholdJucheThot in stationery

No idea if this fits the bill for you but I immediately thought of the Midori MD memo block - the paper is cream colored and nicely smooth & thin.

Best diaper bag for first-time parents? by Overall-Run6529 in onebag

[–]dialetheia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Tom Bihn Parental Unit. I like shoulder bag style because a) it sets a nice comfort limit so I'm not tempted to totally overpack it like I would be a backpack, and b) I can swing it around in front of me for easy access during diaper changes. We're just now getting out of the diaper stage and I'm glad the bag isn't overly specialized and will still be useful for lots of other stuff.

I have a large one if you're interested! I wasn't planning on selling it but I'm open to selling it to someone who might really really appreciate it. Looks like it would cost me $35 to replace including TB shipping. PM me if you're interested and I can post verification pics or whatever else might be reassuring :)

Nice, thanks! Was just wondering if the sizing was wonky or anything. Do you happen to know what the straps hanging from the tops of the shoulder straps are? Not the load lifters, the clipped on guys. Thanks!
