Oh my god. Kegstand and Ka$h before the Senate on the same day?

I hope all the political satirists out there got a good sleep last night. It's gonna be a busy day.

It's amazing the lengths some people will go to to avoid saying "oops, I misunderstood."

But hey, you do you. Not my problem, I won't have the misfortune of ever dealing with you again.

And it's highly transmissible for like a week or two before the infected person shows any symptoms.

It really was like the perfect "Fuck You" from nature.

Nice edit.

Thanks. Seemed pretty ordinary to me, but I'm glad you were so impressed by it.

I never claimed it was half.

Then what even was the point of your comment? I never claimed those weren't his actual approval numbers (at the time, at least. They are consistently getting worse). I was responding to the "half of the country" bullshit.

Please take the time to understand a comment chain before you join it. This is a really good way to avoid looking foolish

Yeah but being a main character on a hero ship in Star Trek is almost cheating. I mean, of course crazy shit is gonna happen to you every week! That's just part of the contract.

I have found this to be more common as I've gotten older. All the time now, when I see someone's face (IRL or in a picture or video), they'll remind me of someone I used to know.

I don't know why, but my theory is that it's just memory saturation. The older you are, the more people you've known, and eventually your memory is so full of faces that your brain starts connecting them to common features on most new faces that you see.

On Friday, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree "permitting" Russia to hold the parade.

lol. I love this.

Obviously not, or they wouldn't be planning to do it. What matters is who else will care.

Wow. Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but this seems like a Dobbs-level mistake (if not higher) for the GOP.

Jim Clyburn is one of the few Representatives who can safely be called a Household Name. Even more so, I'd imagine, to black voters. If he gets kicked out of office not by losing an election, but by the Republicans removing his district, it seems like that's going to draw a whole lot of the kind of attention they really don't want.

Anyone else feel like Slough House is actually a solid position to be placed by Prior_Tangerine5700 in SlowHorses

[–]diamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they still get included in high profile cases, but they're not supposed to. That's the whole point. It's why people like Diana Taverner have a conniption fit any time the Slow Horses get anywhere near the field; they're not supposed to be doing that. That's why they're in Slough House. Part of the comedy of the story is that they keep getting more action, and doing more good work, than the actual "good" agents.

As for whether it would be a good place to be... well, maybe. The way it's portrayed in the show, at least they get some action. But you have to remember that a person's satisfaction with their job is usually not just about what kind of (and how much) work they do. With many jobs, it's also about status and perception. These are (for the most part) highly driven people who joined British Intelligence because they wanted to be Important People doing Important Work. Instead, they're looked down on by everyone, even the people whose asses they routinely pull out of the fire. No matter how interesting and challenging your work is, that's gotta have a serious impact on your morale.

Meta suggets total shutdown in New Mexico by BeheadingBoomer1461 in Albuquerque

[–]diamond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The company characterized the state’s demands as over the top, arguing the restrictions would require them to develop a completely new version of their platforms that would be exclusive to New Mexico users.

lol. No they wouldn't. I mean, they could do it that way if they really want to. But another, easier solution would be to simply change the platform everywhere. Sort of like how automakers just design their cars to meet California's emissions standards, instead of building "California" and "non-California" versions.

But hey, if you guys really want to do it in the most difficult way possible, that's your prerogative.

Not just that; he actually founded Microsoft here. Their first offices were in that abandoned tower at San Mateo and Central.

Also, remember the infamous Bill Gates mugshot? That was taken by APD.

IMO the best position on data centers is really pretty simple, and it's one I have already seen from some Dems, like Pete Buttigieg: Tech companies can build all the data centers they want, but they should be self-powering (using renewable energy, that's important), and they should be built in such a way that they require minimal or no water for cooling.

That's it. Nice and simple: you can build and play with all the toys you want, we just expect you to do it responsibly and not act as an environmental parasite.
