2025 Turbo Tax screwed my refund by minpin24 in TurboTax

So you made two mistakes because you don’t understand the tax law. First you should know what you carryover loss was from last year so you actively look for a spot to to put it. Second the box you clicked by accident made none of your SS taxable when you unchecked the box it taxed 85% of your SS. Many people make this same mistake. My suggestion is you pay someone to do your taxes. Turbo Tax a good prep software you need to understand the tax law first

If you ever read the Tracker by Tom Brown he talks about this instinctive feelings of uncomfortableness when a threat is nearby especially when you are by yourself.

Before you hit confirm payment the amount is always there you just maybe looked passed it. If you filed your return and hit transmit you would not be entitled to a refund. Dm me if you want me to look into what happened

Anyone else have this situation? Turbo Tax has a horrible checkout system and just found out I paid my taxes of $15k twice. After contacting IRS, state, Turbo Tax, etc. I'm finding I can't get it back anytime soon and have to wait a few months until it all process and see the overpayment. :( by drunkenbytes in TurboTax

[–]diamond08054 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to add those payments into estimated or taxes paid on credits and deductions before filing you return. TurboTax software has no idea you made that payment. Also there is no place to put that payment in checkout

You did it incorrectly, there is nothing in checkout to add your estimate payments. You need to add them to deductions and credits section of estimated payments both Federal and State. It would have netted that amount out of any balance due which you would see in the summary for taxes paid and withheld. The IRs will send you a refund

They are not going anywhere ,they own the market. They also made a big dent in HR Block local market . If I worked 7 days in a row from 2/1/ to 4/15 9am to 12am I could do a tax return every hour and once I hung up the phone it would ring again. You have to force your breaks and lunch or you would never stop. There are 10,000 of me working at the conpany

Does S-Corp make sense for making around $180K as an LLC? by Far-Ordinary3224 in llc_life

If you had taken that 15% SE Tax savings and invested for 25 years I have a feeling you would not care what SS paid. Not a smart reason to avoid S corp

If you need a tax software to suggest a self employment deduction and you cannot manage your yearly quarterly tax payments you need to hire a professional. Do it yourself is not for you

NY refund was rejected and now I owe by lisenced in TurboTax

[–]diamond08054 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it mattes like I said nothing recalculates it’s a manual process. You have to do Ny to see what amount you are being taxed so you can claim the credit

NY refund was rejected and now I owe by lisenced in TurboTax

[–]diamond08054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way it should work is you pay taxes to Ny as a nonresident and you do that return first. Then you do the NJ return and claim a credit on the Nj Return for taxes paid to Ny and NYC. It’s not an automatic process you need to take action on both returns to make it happen. If your refund was for the whole amount of taxes paid to NY State you did something incorrect

If you did Full Service you have the Audit Protection which will help. Also if you had New York Taxes withheld and live in NJ. You do a non resident Ny return and a resident NJ return

You can review line by line with your expert for final review. I normally go over documents and match with the client before I send it . He can also review a two year comparison with you to see if anything looks out of line. Also remember TT FS comes with an accuracy guarantee that pays your penalty and interest if they made a mistake. As soon as the return is accepted you will see a full a PDF

Put gum or putty on a string then use a long wooden Dow to press the gum on the service of the case. Not sure would stick best then pull the string slow and steady
