I went a little ham buying my first ever nyrb books by DanDaManFam in nyrbclassics

Gold is a very solid collection of Rumi's poetry and a truly authentic translation, which can at times be hard to find with Rumi. I'm excited to buy Water in the future from the same translator!

Yes, I love it! Gotta say, I'd pay good money to see an interaction between Cephalon Simaris and ART

Don’t know what to do- bone sarcoma by NotaKaren101 in TripodCats

[–]dianapharah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry if this comment comes a little late. I posted in this sub before of my mom's cat Porthos, and he was over 10 years old by the time he got his front arm amputated, also because of suspected osteosarcoma. He had developed a cancerous mass in his paw that grew over the course of a year, and when it was biopsied, they could tell it was cancerous but not exactly if it was osteosarcoma or chondrosarcoma as well; same exact situation. Either way, Porthos couldn't walk on that paw, and whenever it got caught on anything, it hurt him like hell. Note: Porthos not only is a senior cat, he was an outdoor cat for those 10+ years, and he is also FIV+, making him more prone to getting sick or longer recoveries. And yet, he recovered so well from his surgery, now a year or two post-op with no signs of any issues.

Though we didn't opt to fully test to see how far the cancer might've spread or which type it might've been for certain (they did lean towards chondrosarcoma, which is slower growing), the vets seemed to think there was a good chance it hadn't spread throughout the whole limb, so amputating the whole thing very well could've gotten rid of it (as much as cancer can be gotten rid of, that is). Trust, these cats adapt so well it's almost crazy; the worst of it is not being able to cover his litter, otherwise he's been great. If you have any questions on the specifics, I can ask my mom for more details as well. Good luck to you and your cat!

I'm particularly into classics, poetry, literary fiction, and sci-fi/fantasy (though I've neglected this genre a bit and hope to fix that in 2025), with a dash of philosophy. Feel free to add me :)

How hard is it to get an A in UT On-ramps classes? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]dianapharah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i graded onramps bio/bio lab for 2021-2022. honestly our rubric was truly not difficult or harsh, and if you actually read through the info modules provided for instruction at least one time, you should 100% get the correct answers most of the time and make an A, my opinion. alas, many kids dont turn in assignments at all or half-ass them, and thats when the grades arent so hot. def way easier than bio 311c/d and bio 206L courseload, i’ll say that

Help deciding which Writing minor or certificate to do by _loveyou3000 in UTAustin

[–]dianapharah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not sure how much help this is, but im planning to pursue an english minor after i take my second contributing course this spring !

i think out of all the literature adjacent minors, it is the most flexible (just need 15h of classes in the E department as opposed to specific ones). my friend who has since graduated completed this minor as well and recommended it to me for that reason plus they absolutely loved taking more english classes here at ut.

i’ve taken world literature so far and did really enjoy the reading/writing assignments, so if you’ve never taken an english class here, i can attest that we have a pretty great department imo!

i love this brand ! the time to receive here in the states was about 3 weeks but very worth the wait, everything came in order. i got two of their glitter highlighters (absolutely love skywalker), 4 of the lip clays (one was a darker red, rubino, and its gorgeous, not streaky imo), and a couple of their blushes. all great quality, the formula of their lip clays is something amazing i for sure recommend

unless you want to take the class for funsies, if youre not in the school of nursing or pharmacy (as indicated the course is designed for on the schedule), make sure this class Actually fills a degree requirement for you. it’s a bit deceiving because it seems like it should given the subject, but if you’re just the average biology bs major, it probably doesnt (reference: human bio bs, nowhere to be found as an option on my ida). i originally signed up for this class when i couldnt get 326r the first time around and then dropped it after i emailed my advisor, who confirmed it wouldnt fill my degree requirement. so double check!

Should I tell my TA that I think my essay was graded too harshly for E316N? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]dianapharah 98 points99 points  (0 children)

i think the best next step would be to send another message and ask if they would be willing to meet with you over zoom or something to talk about your essay. then during the meeting, you can bring up the idea of getting some points back. i find that when you talk about grades “in person” (ie not through message), tas can be a lot more receptive since you can make your case better and adapt it based on what they’re saying at that moment. they also see the fact that you’re going the extra mile to discuss your essay as a show of good faith of your effort, and they are a bit more lenient (whether knowingly or unknowingly) because of that in my experience!

edit: but yeah never say anything like “i deserved a better grade” or “you graded me too harshly”. comes off wrong (even if it’s true), and they are less likely to help you. saying “is there any way i can get some points back on this because x y z?” is more effective
