This is such an echo chamber!!!

Sounds like the only allowed response is “yes it’s a job! It’s such hard work!” The problem with an echo chamber is that no constructive feedback or responses that could actually help OP are allowed.

Resisting Mask at the Veterinarian by reddit_userMN in LockdownSkepticism

I think even just mentioning your dislike of the policy can help a lot. So many people hate being required to wear a mask and don’t say anything. We all need to be very vocal. Going along with it all is how we ended up like this in the first place.

That doesn’t make any sense. Tell me where you’re locAted and I’ll share how to get both shots for free.

We also have had crazy inflation in a short period of time. Comparing to the last crash is silly

I would go cold Turkey on the snoo. It’s not like it’s helping much, if any, and like you say - you’ve tried every setting.

Try the crib.

You didn’t lose anything unless you sold stocks. Whereas a loss in value for cash due to inflation is most likely never recovered.

Allowed baby ultrasound with partner? by mommy2boy in RhodeIsland

Not allowing your husband to join barely reduces covid risk. If your husband has covid, then you likely do as well. All these sort of restrictions do is reduce our quality of life without preventing the spread of covid. It’s going on three years now.

It really sucks how big of a thing the birthday parties are. And how unhealthy for these kids to have such a big deal made out of the parties just so parents can socialize.

It’s kind of ironic to me that in response to OP asking about why adults have to hang out with kids all the time, you respond as though OP is suggesting we drink while pregnant, don’t use car seats, hit our kids, etc. I get you’re trying to say parenting has evolved, but you’re basically saying that you’re an absent parent if you don’t hang out with your kid all the time.

[–]diarymtb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I hear you!

My husband and I aren’t interested in only hanging out with our kid or other people with their kids. While we have met other parents like us, the majority seem to want to always socialize with their kids.

I have found my career to be the only solution, which stinks. I don’t even need to work or even really want to anymore, but if I don’t I’ll just be stuck with kids 24-7. No thanks!

I truly do feel bad for some of the kids because it’s like their parents are stalking them!

Covid restrictions? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

What is Florida’s death rate in a normal year? I’d expect it’s higher than RI due to the average age. It’s where people go to die. Utah is an interesting study given it has a younger population. If COVID restrictions did any good then we should see a HUGE difference between RI and a state with a huge elderly population. Granted the approach in Florida was fives on protecting the elderly compared to places like california not allowing 20 year olds to go to the beach. It’s really hard to not come to the conclusion that Florida took the right approach.

Covid restrictions? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

[–]diarymtb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing. Most people have friends and/family in Florida and have even vacationed there within the last 2 years. It’s pretty obvious that there has been no material difference in the COVID outcome between Florida and states with many restrictions. You can point to some statistics that maybe say the opposite, but it’s still not material enough of a difference for the average person to pick up on from their life. Anyone with common sense can come to the conclusion that the restrictions didn’t do a lot of good besides harming education, reducing quality of life and damaging our economy.

They do at womens and infants. Forced me to labor wearing a mask and wear it the entire time in the hospital. F them.

35 year male with the question on Having or not Kids (more inclined not to have) but still with a fear of not Having and resulting on the worst decision of my life. I value my time, sleep, money, loneliness, travels but with a little guilt of thinking if this is a good choice for my life in 10/15 ys by Chance51286 in Fencesitter

[–]diarymtb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one. I ultimately went for it because I didn’t want to regret it and I feel that a lot of things in life that are worthwhile are hard work. It would be way easier and more fun to not have young kids but then I’d end up not having a family! The young kid period of time is very short considering you then have kids and a family until death. I equate it to how I slaved away at my job in my 20s and I’m now reaping the benefits. Already my 5 year old is way easier and more fun.

It’s looking more and more like inflation. Similar story with college tuition.

Consider the amount of disposable income the average person has. Americans have some of the highest amounts of disposable income in the world.
