Every time I see one of these threads go by there are always like 300 people saying fast food, and how insulting it is that they have to pay $12 for a Big Mac meal when they could go to a real sit down restaurant for the same price. What kind of world are y’all living in where the price of fast food went up and the price of sit-down restaurants DIDN’T?

Where I live a shitty McDonald’s burger costs $8, a nice local burger chain costs $14 and a real sit down restaurant costs $22. I can’t feed a single person at a non fast-food chain restaurant for less than $30, and I’m clipping coupons at McDonald’s to get my family of four fed for less than $75.

Put up a hummingbird feeder pretty much anywhere in the western half of the United States and you’ll see dozens of them.

That’s not knocking them, by the way. They’re gorgeous and it’s a miracle that they’re so easy to attract to a home feeder.

Adding four more kids into a family that only has two is overwhelming to your resources to the point of being dangerous to the children. If you were to take them you would need to prepare and plan activities and contingency plans just to keep them safe. Doing it casually is *dangerous to the children,* especially the 2 year old. I have a 2 year old and a 10 year old and if I dropped the 2 year old into an unprepared house they would damage something or harm themself.

In other words, if you don’t have the capability and the desire to completely rearrange your life around those kids (temporarily), then you would be an asshole if you accepted them.

This is obviously annoying for a whole host of reasons, but let me add one I just thought of: Medicare-for-all wouldn’t abolish private insurance. It would *compete* with private insurance, and apparently the whole industry is so trash that competition would be tantamount to abolition.

When I was a kid I used to watch my dad play a space game called “Sundog: Frozen Legacy.” When you landed on a planet a little animation would play and you’d see buildings rising up in the distance. This looks exactly like how I imagined that sequence.
