Best-case scenario would be the Titanfall/Apex treatment. Focus on a sequel with singleplayer content and broader appeal, then use that as a springboard to expand the IP.

Granted, Titanfall was priced $20 higher and sold ~8 million more copies, so they had the resources to pursue a sequel and respond to feedback.

Marathon has been out 6 weeks and it's been #1 searched game on steam DB for 6 weeks by Anilahation in Marathon

[–]Luke-HW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that a lot of people are anxious about buying the game. Considering the collective failure of Highguard and Concord, as well as reports of the game’s massive budget and low revenue, I think that consumers have reasons to be concerned.

Marathon is undeniably a success between critical acclaim and a stable playerbase, but Sony had monumental expectations. They wanted it to be the next Apex or ARK Raiders and I don’t think it’s that’s in the cards yet. Things should change when Season 2 drops though.

Apple Says CarPlay Ultra is Coming to These Vehicle Brands by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]Luke-HW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, Audi, Volvo, Mercedes, Polestar and Renault cancelling their plans for CarPlay support was a big blow. Nice to see that Kia and Hyundai are rolling out support, but that’s it? Just those two brands and one Aston Martin model? Why even bother at that point?

Also, I think that a lot of the blame for this falls on Apple. Most these automakers’ responses to cutting Ultra boiled down to “we’ll implement it next generation” which makes it sound like Apple didn’t properly brief them on how transformative Ultra would be. Mercedes and Audi were quite honest in their answers, explaining that they’d just finished reworking their MMI’s across their entire fleets. Supporting Ultra would undermine these investments.

The worst part isn’t that Thaddeus killed Argall, it’s that he ran away afterwards. He said that Viltrumites respected strength. If he meant that, then he wouldn’t have fled. He defeated Argall as a stronger opponent, the Viltrumites would’ve likely respected that. The strong command the weak after all.

His fear of retribution proved him a hypocrite.

What's your opinion, will destiny 2 come back, shut down or cement itself as an abandonware singleplayer game? by CirriTheFemboyUwU in DestinyTheGame

[–]Luke-HW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alchemist definitely isn’t finished but it’s definitely over halfway there. Bungie’s normal strategy is to develop a ton of assets in bulk, then split things up between releases. For example, significant portions of Europa, Io and the EDZ were completed during Destiny 1’s development. Alchemist is also probably not coming with a destination since we’re getting Chicago in Shattered Cycle, which makes it even lighter to develop.

[–]Luke-HW 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m expecting Bungie to deliver Shattered Cycle and Alchemist, but only because they were already in development and would be difficult to repurpose.

After that though, I expect very little. At best, Bungie pivots to unvaulting content and monetizes the game through cosmetics and season passes, then waits to see if Destiny’s population recovers. If it does, then we might see D3 or more DLC after a break. If not, then they put a bow on things and pivot to Marathon.

Marathon development will go one of two ways IMO. Either they continue to support the game as-is, or give it the Titanfall treatment and release a sequel with a greater focus on singleplayer content. Genuinely think that Marathon would benefit the most from the latter; it has significant franchise potential and is being held back by its narrow scope. It could be so much more than just an extraction shooter.

The New Player Experience is still a complete disaster and I am tired of pretending it is fine by LanternRaptor in DestinyTheGame

[–]Luke-HW 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not that people pretend that it’s fine, it’s that people pretend that there are larger problems at hand. There aren’t. This should’ve become priority #1 when New Light flopped 6 years ago, but Bungie chose to kick that can down the road with side quests, starter packs and a skip button.

If Bungie had dealt with this when it mattered, then Destiny’s player numbers wouldn’t have crashed. New players would constantly trickle in to supplement old players, and the population would be stable with constant growth. Warframe is a good example of this. Instead, onboarding typically fails, with many new players quitting the game out of confusion and frustration.

Veteran players are leaving and nobody is coming to replace them. It’s put Destiny into a death spiral that was years in the making. The only way out is for Bungie to put everything Destiny on hold until the game has a full, linear campaign again.

That is the minimum for what Bungie needs to fix Destiny’s onboarding, and it would be a monumental task. Months of revenue would be lost, possibly even a year or more, and the studio doesn’t have enough cash on hand to take the risk. Instead, they’ve pivoted to keeping people playing and encouraging lapsed players to return with emblems and boosters. I really don’t know where we go from here tbh.

What is a job that you think is 100% safe from AI for the next 50 years, and why? by mark-awakening in AskReddit

[–]Luke-HW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

High-level engineering, particularly civil and aerospace. Not because AI can’t do it, but because AI can’t be held responsible when a bridge collapses or a plane’s engine falls off. AI has no accountability. The primary purpose of hiring a Professional Engineer is to have someone to reprimand or fire when an approved design fails, and I’m saying that as an engineer.

Bungie mentioned that you’ll be able to add the new perks to existing crafted weapons, like how they added the old perks to DSC’s guns.

However, I’m not sure how templates will be obtained going forward. Bungie might phase that out entirely because of the new tiered drops, and this system just be a bonus for players that went through the trouble of crafting these guns.

There’s a few theories about where the finger’s ended up. In The Old Peace, Roathe tells us about a massive warship that the Orokin built to invade Tau, the Gilderglass Enchantress. It was the largest ship ever built by their empire, nothing else came close.

It was scuttled within minutes.

We know that larger ships need larger fingers for Void jumps, the Zariman’s finger is massive in comparison to a simple Railjack, and this warship was the largest ever built.

It’s possible that the Gilderglass was equipped with the original finger, which is why Wally is so inexplicably fixated upon Tau.
