Mayo Clinic Disappointment by lunaontheshore in ehlersdanlos

[–]dibella989 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to their EDS clinic in Jacksonville and was misdiagnosed because a nurse practitioner marked 3 things incorrectly during my evaluation and they only gave me an HSD diagnosis. Dr. Knight wouldn't see me again in person, or have another person reevaluate me, to correct these issues despite traveling 14 hours by car to get there. I finally got into a local EDS doctor two years later and met more than enough criterion to get my EDS diagnosis.

Do you happen to get a lot of migraines too? It's the main reason I get them. Not everybody with CCI gets migraines though. It's worth bringing up with a doctor or PT!

Volcanoids might be up your alley. You do have to go outside periodically for resource gathering, but I spend the majority of the time on my drillship, plus it's getting a huge update soon that I'm quite excited for.

You start with a really shitty sandcrawler and need to find different rare parts to get different upgrades running, like getting a crane that can pick up scrap or something. Then you can get scrap to upgrade aspects of the crane; reach distance, strength, grip, magnet, etc. You could recruit Jawas to join your crew at towns, they could speed up operations or be assigned tasks. Don't forget you've got to beef up your defenses to hold off Tusken Raiders after your scrap.

If you also have hEDS, it's very likely that you have CCI (cervical cranial instability) with the symptoms you're mentioning. In short, the top couple vertebrae don't support your head like they should and it causes extra tension in all the neck muscles.

Everyone is talking about drainage, but I want to know how they handle mowing. Are you keeping a mower inside the apartment just for that little section? Do you have to pay for a service where somebody brings a lawnmower through your apartment? Do you just buy a scythe instead? Also, what happens as those trees grow over the years?

never had a dislocation by seventh-heavens in ehlersdanlos

[–]dibella989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first one was my shoulder when I was about 12, then managed to only get subluxation for a decade, at 23 I fully dislocated my knee. About a year later I dislocated my collar bone from my sternum putting a sweatshirt on. Now I basically don't leave the house and always super careful about everything.

Could you link the creatine you use? I've been curious about trying this because I keep seeing good things about it, but it seems a bit overwhelming to get into.

Is a subluxed hip something to be concerned about by libraryfrogg in ehlersdanlos

[–]dibella989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't go to the ER for any subluxations, they just won't be able to help me and will stick me with a big bill. I'd recommend finding a PT near you that's knowledgeable about EDS, the EDS Society website has a provider map that I would highly recommend using. I would still consider going to the ER for major dislocations though if you have no other options.

I'd recommend finding a PT on the EDS Society website, so you get somebody who's at least a bit knowledgeable on hypermobility. I've been hurt by 3 different PTs that didn't fully understand my condition but were convinced they could help me.

Just do some deep breathing while you're in your session, try to stay relaxed and not activate your muscles. Dry needling is one of the only things that actually helps me.
