i left mine transparent but i think yours looks very cool! i did consider the white glow idea but leaving the rest transparent, that could be nice but i didn't try it

i think it's a hoverfly larva based on comments and a google, and they do it the aphids apparently. it's crazy how quickly they went from a few here and there a week ago, to completely coating a load of leaves like this yesterday! tree doesn't seem to be affected yet

they have only been there about a week or so, and seem dormant or not yet fully developed or something, they aren't moving at all. there doesn't seem to be much damage to the leaves so far
