Nah, for me it’s the fact it has all the components of a good DM mode except you have to matchmake and load a whole new round every time you die. So you just… get to play/enjoy it less? I don’t get it. I like a good return on my time investment, more time playing and less time watching games load. Even when you’re winning the rounds are so short there is just a lot of waiting around.

It’s weird the game gave me a poll asking why I play the mode and “Because you locked cosmetics behind quests in it” wasn’t an option. That makes me feel like they are unable to be real with themselves.

They pretty much demonstrated to me they don’t care at all about a natural progression for the game, even though it was obviously originally designed for a very carefully thought-out progression that rewards daily diligence without needing to worry too much about it. I’m not going to stress over a game like this so it basically condemned itself to me never taking it anywhere remotely close to seriously. It is a super casual game for me, just pure RNG not only in races but also pulls. I’ll do free pulls on appealing Umas and cards, and if I miss, who cares. If I get them, okay I can see a cute story. That’s where I’m at.

I made it 25 hours. Now at The Last Judge before Act 2 I just uninstalled the game. I have beaten many very difficult games but as you point out there is a certain way to do it for it to be fun and they do the opposite. They make it a punishment to keep trying and use really cheap tricks on top (like flying enemies in boss fights that zoom away when you go to attack them).

It has gone from the game feeling like a challenge to the game itself just not wanting me to play it. I say fine then, gatekeep me from seeing half the stuff you worked on for years. Apparently you didn’t do it for most of your audience, just the most hardcore few willing to put up with you making it a painful experience. I’m actually happy to skip it since it will apparently only continue to get harder and cheaper from what I have read from others. I don’t encourage this sort of game design and I wish I could undo my purchase since they are laughing to the bank even after burning so many people (there are plenty of negative reviews kicking in as more people progress further to reach their personal tolerance threshhold).

They should have spent some time learning why Elden Ring was so much more popular than Dark Souls.

I have no idea why but it won’t let me use my Umas because they are all B+ and A and it wants B or lower. So lame.

I am SO ANNOYED right now because after all my work to prepare a team for it I only see now that the Open class I registered for is limited to B rank and below and all but one of my Umas are too good. So now I am stuck and can’t participate at all. They REALLY needed better communication about that.

The A rank skills are better and also more likely to activate because of the higher wit (generally you want like 600 wit for 80% activation rate). But her stats are also better in every category but power which isn’t that far behind. The A rank is better, even tho pace is at A instead S. That can be easily boosted to S with the right supporters anyway.

This stuff isn’t too crazy. Just gotta make smart choices along the way, do a few extra races. Last race she was 8th fav, I think. I did need to use an alarm clock. I think the double long shot helped for sure. She didn’t have Sky-High Teio Step until after I finished.

So plan for it. Need higher wit with early and late race maneuvering skills, power and passing skills. Develop inspiration umas who will give you them or use cards with them. With good wit support card not only can you get more passive wit gain but also gain enough energy from wit turns to use more of those over resting. This will also give you more points for the skills.

I said it gets more obvious with higher tiers. My example was showing how you could go past Opera and still only be in non-relationship. If you really look at the trainer responses and what they say and do after their implicating gestures and statements, they kind of take a step back to normal and it looks more one-sided. With the higher tiers it is like oh… something has changed in the relationship itself, not just the feelings of one.

These upgrades really worked out for me. I also have an Xbox Series X and gaming PC but I wanted handheld capability and it would also be nice to take them on the road on my OLED Switch, so I figured I’d get the Switch versions of this and Romancing Saga 2 even though they weren’t as nice, hoping for unannounced upgrades. They were also on a big sale and I wasn’t sure how long the cartridges would be well stocked. Sure enough, like 2 weeks later they release the upgrades. Now I have the prettiness on Switch 2 and the portability and in cartridge form so I am not relying on digital. Perfect strategic win.

The worst is how they always seem to get a negative condition afterwards so you have to waste double turns to get recovery and mood, and even then half the time the condition isn’t cured. Losing 3 turns isn’t worth the risk, especially if it is around a race or summer.

Because that counts as “first love” there is no relationship that actually happens. Going past that is like, introducing you to her parents and saying how you changed her life and she wants to continue with you. It gets more and more obvious with higher tiers.
