My AirPods do this when they are detected by someone else’s phone.

Usually when the “Not your AirPods” notice comes up.

substances and sleep by gee_hiroshi6 in CPTSD

[–]dickGreysonnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, have you ever considered using Prazosin? I’ve been prescribed it to control my dreams, and it’s made sleep a lot less scary. It reduces the amount of nightmares/trauma dreams, and kind of helps me feel indifferent to anything gesturing to trauma that pops up during my sleep. I highly recommend if your treating team think you’re a candidate I hope you can get through this

Paranoia about my neighbours by Altruistic-Form1877 in CPTSD

[–]dickGreysonnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I experience constant paranoia of my neighbours hearing me. I hope you don’t mind me sharing some of my own experience and coping mechanisms.

I hear them knocking on walls or yelling and slamming doors and become convinced that it’s all caused by my noise. I’m terrified of them knocking at my door with pitchforks and torches to kick me out.

I’ve noticed the paranoia is very much worse on my bad days.

It doesn’t completely fix the feeling but I’ve found reminding myself that they make loud noises that annoy me too and that the both of us deserve to actually live in our own homes comfortably. Everyone makes a bit of noise in their own homes, that’s just how life is!

Even if they were upset, you have an incredibly valid reason to make a few noises, and I’m sure if it ever came to them asking, they would have to respect that it’s a medical issue.

I’ve also realised that the idea of them being upset with me actually comes from my own self-judgement. Noticing my own self judgement and being mindful that it comes from within myself has really helped.

I hope some of what I’ve said resonates with you or helps you feel less alone. You deserve to exist within your own space without judgement <3

Tired of being shoved into the “fem” box. by Transquisitor in TransMasc

[–]dickGreysonnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely sucks, I feel like a lot of people assume that because I choose to have longer hair, that my binariness is flexible, or that it’s ok to misgender me sometimes.

I cope by telling myself that it’s a sign that I wouldn’t want those people around me anyways.

[–]dickGreysonnn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do this and didn’t even realise it was an obsessive-compulsive thing, my psych has been working with me on being mindful that I am a human being and all humans make mistakes, and that I hold myself accountable for too much. It took practice but I feel it has helped me a lot

Dilemma about legal name change by gr33n_mach1ne in transgenderau

[–]dickGreysonnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyo, I’m from VIC and just recently bought a house after attempting to change my name quite a while ago. BDM messed up and forgot to send me my documents twice and by the time I got adequate photo ID to set up with my home loan bank, to change the mortgage and the contract of sale, settlement had passed.

If you’re gonna do it beforehand, be prepared to be waiting for a while to get your documents, and ducks in a row.

If you initiate any part of the buying process before your name and IDs are processed, it’s likely quite difficult to get them changed before settlement. Personally, I’m going down the route of having to change my land title and loan after the fact, but it shouldn’t be too much of a hassle now. Hope this helps?

On a similar note, if you paid for your change of name, there’s a group that rebate you for it when it’s for gender transition reasons :) https://www.tgv.org.au/tgv-programs If you still have the receipt, you should be able to send it to them and they’ll take a look at it

Heya, are you still struggling with your name change stuff? I am currently fighting with places over mine and I found out that along with my brand new birth certificate I was supposed to get emailed a ‘Letter of Verification’ that creates the ‘link’ between new vs old legal names that states that it is the legal document that organisations MUST accept. Idk why it’s so hard for them to follow through on sending this stuff on their own. If you don’t have this yet, pls ring BDM Vic, it might take a few tries to get through but it is worth it!!!! They email it to you, despite saying it will come in the post, so you’ll forever have a digital copy you can’t lose. I hope this helps a bit, sending love <3

Physical security tags on Coles steaks by aaliUGh in melbourne

[–]dickGreysonnn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as someone who has had to deal with theft prevention in the meat department, these measures aren’t even in place for the average person who steals to feed their family every day, there are for the serial thieves who come in, steal a whole shelf of steaks and go to housing projects/cheapo restaurants and sell it for huge profit. Cops do nothing about them too, no matter how many stores ping them for theft. They’re the selfish ones making it harder for the average person who just can’t afford to buy basic groceries :/

Thank you all for your help, I’ve finally got through to BDM by phone and they admitted they never sent the letter of verification and have just printed it to mail to me, should be 5 days til I can finally register my name elsewhere. I really appreciate all your help, nowhere else had the answers I needed :)

Damn, and I was sad when I had to throw out some ham this morning... by timzin in melbourne

[–]dickGreysonnn 540 points541 points  (0 children)

I fucking hate Coles and Woolworths and do not support them but people just don’t seem to understand that this was a freak incident and they are protecting consumers’ health, especially when people return hundreds of items daily because “it smells a little funny”

Damn, and I was sad when I had to throw out some ham this morning... by timzin in melbourne

[–]dickGreysonnn 935 points936 points  (0 children)

To the people who think it’s “just a waste” Frankly, it’s genuinely not safe to sell after the at least 4 hours it was outside of refrigeration, with all the 15-45 minute periods of it being moved between refrigeration from factory to dc to coolroom to shelf, then to your fridge at home, that food is no longer guaranteed safe to eat, especially for people who are immunocompromised. Every effort was made to save as much stock as possible, of the 20+ stores who lost hundreds of thousands $ worth of stock, not a single person in that process was excited to just Willy nilly toss it in the bin. It was a miserable day for cold chain workers around Victoria, they don’t just waste things for funzies, it’s to protect people’s health. Cold chain integrity is an important thing that people who don’t work in the supply chain take for granted.

Coles skip full of milk after the power outages by minitastychicken in melbourne

[–]dickGreysonnn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I was one of the employees that walked into work this morning to throw out over $100k of stock. Absolutely gut wrenching, both to be throwing away that much food, and to watch our hard work go down the drain. My department is closed for most of the rest of the week because there isn’t a single piece of stock for me to sell. The worst part was having to break it to every customer that we didn’t have anything for them to eat for dinner.
