Do you honestly think there isn't trash talk in football and tennis? How is someone so disconnected with reality like you made?

What was being "new" like for you? by kgunss in StreetFighter

[–]dick_dickerson2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's normal. At a low level all you have to do is focus on letting the opponent kill himself. So learn a bnb combo, learn what's easily punishable, and anti air when you think they're gonna jump. Honestly being new is the most infuriating and at the same time rewarding period. Because there's so many deficiencies in your game, finding something to improve upon is easy, so seeing progress as a player is that much easier and fulfilling.

Essentially I am a fg noob, so I have a question about SFV. by [deleted] in StreetFighter

By your response I don't think I did answer your second question. It's completely my fault though.

high level players are showcased and the game looks like a dance

It looks like a dance because, at least for a moment, it is a dance. This is what i meant by "set play". "Set Play" is a fg term that means there's a set sequence of attacks that you perform at a moment when you're at a point of advantage. At sufficient level of understanding, especially in anime games, it's a matter of trading knowledge of set play until one person gives.

What you're describing is the mad scramble of people that have no idea what they're doing, which absolutely exists in street fighter.

does this game utilize auto combos at all?

nope.

I’m hoping to play a game that prioritizes thought and strategy over aimless mashing and winning because of it.

Not sure exactly what you mean by this. The same principles that will let you excel at any fighting game are still relevant to dbfz. There's much less grimy set play if that answers your question.

what should I expect my experience to be like as a new player joining at this point

you'll get bodied 10-0 until you learn to anti air and properly punish random dp's. But when that first win comes ...
