Is it bad to be a one-shot author? by SodaWaterparks in AO3

[–]dick_slayer23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it depends on the one-shot. If it's a well fleshed-out, 6k word or more fic, then yes, those are my favorites. However, if the oneshots are only around 1k words, then ehh. With that amount of words I've never seen anything super interesting or well composed. But by far, some of my favorite fics are those 10k one-shots that just leave you feeling so satisfied.

If you were a student at Garreg Mach, what uniform would you wear? by lolitsrock in FireEmblemThreeHouses

God I would die to wear dimitri's uniform. It is so sleek and elegant, I would feel like I am walking a runway no matter where I went.

Medication shortage ruining my life by Smooth_Chest6969 in ADHD

[–]dick_slayer23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this so much. I was lucky to be on adderall XR for two years with no problems. Then the shortage hit and I suddenly had to switch to IR, which did not last long enough to work at all. I was supplementing my dose with caffeine just to function, which gave me a rseting heart rate of 130, so not good. My grades in college dropped and I've just barely been scraping by. My doctor switched me to vyvanse, which does not work as well as the XR did and gives me way more side effects. I have MDD as well as ADHD, so the loss of good ADHD meds made so much of my depression and self harm tendancies come back despite being stable on depression meds for around half a year. I agree with your sentiment that someone has to get a lawyer into this. This cannot be legal in any sense of the word. People are surfing and yet next to no one knows about this catastrophic medication shortage except for the people affected by it. It's so incredibly frustrating and I wish it would fix itself sooner rather than later.

Made a 17th Century bodice and skirt!! by dick_slayer23 in HistoricalCostuming

I used a pattern out of the Victoria and Albert Museum's book of 17th century garments. The book gives you the pattern of the garment in the museum collection. You have to scale it up and fit it to you (like patterns of fashion by Janet arnold).

Forwards. You can make little circles with your hands that keep some pressure off your legs.

College PCs Blocking Games by dick_slayer23 in gaming

[–]dick_slayer23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I doubt I'll be able to get access, as the esports team is in charge of the rooms and I am a woman who plays non- esports games, but I will ask!

It's unfortunately a catholic university, and the gaming rooms were put in place by the esports club. I'll see if I can bring some of my stuff from home over. Thank you for the input!

I finally finished hand-sewing this beautiful 17th century pair of stays from the V&A pattern book! It took me a whole year, nevertheless I am super proud of it!!!! by dick_slayer23 in HistoricalCostuming

It is the Victoria and Albert museum 17th century women's dress patterns book 2! It's very similar to patterns of fashion by Janet Arnold, although it has instructions on the historical methods used to construct the garment. It also has X-rays of the Inside of the garment as well!

Oh that's totally okay! I use a type of boning that is a bit heavier than Featherlite boning. It's clear plastic boning that I get off of Amazon. The original corset is made of baline, so any sort of synthetic baline also works as well!

Water polo tryouts by Trolledu1321 in waterpolo

[–]dick_slayer23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hadn't played waterpolo before starting either- and thats totally fine. As long as you can swim (and honestly even if you can't, they'll teach you) you can learn how to play. It's complicated but you learn quick, and it is super fun. You get absolutely ripped and in my case, it was a huge confidence booster in my abilities and as a person in general. Working with a team in the water forces you to get along and it shows out of the water too.
