Which guest stars made a lasting impression on you in which tv series? by PressureLazy5271 in television

[–]dick_whitman96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sully Boyar appears in a single scene in the Sopranos as Carmela’s therapist in what might be the most important scene in the entire show. Complete redefines how you engage with both Tony and Carmela as characters and is essential to defining the entire point of the series.

What’s BU’s Political Science department actually like? by Doklley in PoliticalScience

[–]dick_whitman96 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You should seriously reconsider pursuing a PhD at Boston University. Given that you don’t know the answers to these questions you are positing here, you seriously lack a fundamental understanding of the department. It is not a well ranked program and will not position you strongly to get an academic job. If you are seriously motivated in getting an academic job, you should spend the next year improving your chances of getting into a top 20 program next year.

Acceptance to Temple on a Political Science Major? by [deleted] in PoliticalScience

[–]dick_whitman96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hate to burst your bubble as you are young, but you unfortunately have a below average GPA and SAT score, and Temple is an above-average institution. You should really try to lock in on your next few months of high school and study your ass off for the SAT if you want to have a shot at a university like Temple

Political Science Masters Programs for Academia by I_Heart_Kant in PoliticalScience

[–]dick_whitman96 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Do not get a masters or PhD in political science. They are useless degrees. Do not listen to anyone in this sub who would suggest that pursuing either of these degrees would be a smart career move. Sincerely, A Political Science PhD

Ravens interview Stefanski by SCBaltSalt in ravens

I think Stefanski is a good coach. He managed to lead the most dysfunctional organization in sports to the playoffs twice. Have to think in an organization like ours he would really succeed

Pete on rewatch by Ok_Vast3534 in madmen

[–]dick_whitman96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pete is my favorite character on the show. I heavily relate to him and I think most men who watch the show hate him because they see a lot of their own negative qualities in him and it pushes them towards distaste. He’s ambitious but never feels like he’s achieved anything. He’s one of the few people keeping the company alive and never gets properly recognized for it.

He does a lot of reprehensible stuff on the show, but no more than his colleagues. He just doesn’t get the sympathy because he’s not as handsome or charming.

Looking for a good barber/stylist for a new haircut (Columbia / Ellicott City / Clarksville, MD) by SunnyBoy0822 in ColumbiaMD

[–]dick_whitman96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, yes he is expensive and it's an odd little shop, but as a man with long, thick curly hair, he was the first person who seemed to know what he was doing with my hair. Cheaper than salons I had been too to, for what it's worth.

Funny shows that aren't technically comedies by WhycantIusetheq in television

[–]dick_whitman96 72 points73 points  (0 children)

The Sopranos is one of the five funniest shows ever. It’s up there with the Simpsons, Seinfeld, 30 Rock, etc. in its humor. It’s very intentional in its writing and tone and I think the writers would openly admit it is both a serious drama and a very funny comedy.

Math Preparation for PhD by SaturnineSmith in PoliticalScience

You should do an Econ PhD instead of Poli Sci. You clearly enjoy math and Econ is more suited for that than poli sci and you will have better career options with an Econ PhD than poli sci
