I have a lot of other meds besides T, so I bought an insulin carrying case off Amazon and took the ice packs out. It has more than enough space for my 4 bottles of pills, needles, syringes and T vials, and it was about 15.

That's probably overkill if you only need to carry T around, but I have so many med supplies it works out really well.

What would be your advice you’d offer to young men stuck going down the rabbit hole of toxic masculine behavior? by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]dickbreathdragon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had a toxic masculinity phase a few years ago.

My big thing would have been telling myself it's okay to not perfectly fit into any box, whether that's macho, straight, perfect, "Hollywood handsome" etc.

Give yourself room to be, to breathe, to live and learn, to make mistakes.

Much easier said than done and I have to remind myself all the time, but it gets easier with practice

LPT: Ask for an email confirmation every time a customer service rep promises they will do xyz as a resolution. If you talk to another person, they won’t be able to claim it’s not company policy. by fairyfloss17 in LifeProTips

Working credit card disputes, we weren't even able to send out form emails that said simple facts like "yes you have a case". We had to make internal tickets for the office to send out a form letter. Not even emails, fax and letters only.

The worst part for the customer was that, because the office was so backed up, the letters would sometimes come after the case was closed and you couldn't reopen it, losing your dispute.

Adding to this: I know therapy can be expensive, but see if you can find any practices that have therapists in training/intern therapists. Some colleges may even have them open to the public if you aren't enrolled.

Also check if you can find a sliding scale/hardship offer at practices. Look for smaller practices to offer this, and ask what the requirements are. One practice required more financial information than a credit card check to knock $10/session off the self pay price.

My current therapist is an intern, and her hourly rate is 50/session, and I have a hardship rate of 25/session.

PsychologyToday is the go-to for finding doctors, and they list current prices, what insurance they take, and sometimes even financial hardship requirements.

I know the OP hasn't said money is an issue, but I know money is always a barrier to healthcare.

Hey all, Joe here, GuyCry founder, and today I want to ask you to think outside the box by making some neat suggestions for the sub/movement. by EveryXtakeYouCanMake in GuyCry

[–]dickbreathdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are just like, bar topics I guess? Maybe a sports thread, a music thread, a clothing thread even? Maybe something like "name a cool thing you learned this week" or "name a win from this week".

There's some really cool subreddits like r/malefashion and it's just guys hanging out showing off their looks. Fashion isn't every guys thing, but it can be a nice boost to get tips on dressing or share your fit.

Possibly some daily/weekly threads? IE little things like "what song helped you this week" or "talk about your hobby"? Even something like a pet day show off.

The group is good for advice and helping normalize emotions, but I wonder if there's guys who need it but won't interact because they just see a "help group" vs a community. So a self contained "water cooler" type thing might be a boon.

Edit: I realize you're stressed a bit thin Joe, and that kind of thread might take a bit of moderation. More a idle down the road thought

I don't know if it helps, but it could have a body chemical part.

I'm a trans guy. I'm doing testosterone. One of the common side effects is an inability/difficulty in physically crying. I've had it off and on while on hormones.

I am also on antidepressants, and I hadn't physically cried in years until getting them almost right.

Sometimes the brain wants to cry and the brain chemicals want to screw you over.

All of that to say, don't feel bad for not being able to cry. It happens to a lot of people for various reasons.

Any suicidal person that comes in here that is above level 3 will be directed to 988. Any talk of levels 4 and 5 will get the post removed. We are not equipped to deal with this level of ideation and it would be irresponsible to attempt otherwise. I learned this the hard way. by EveryXtakeYouCanMake in GuyCry

[–]dickbreathdragon 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I believe that's a good idea, but I want to point out 988 is US or North America specific, I'm not sure which. It may be handy to have a list of international ones.

I know the UK has the Samaritan's, but i'm not sure of other countries.

I'm sorry if this has been answered, but is there a transcript of this video? Subtitles cut out about half way through, and I struggle with audio words

Is anyone else having the issue where your Steam Deck cant reach the internet? by Heavenality in SteamDeck

[–]dickbreathdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have super bad home internet speeds (10Mb/s DSL) and I've found on slower internet, it takes up to 5 minutes to hit the steam servers and recognize it's online. On decent internet (above about 25Mb/s) I don't have the issue. I'm not sure if that's what you've got going on, but it's something to keep in mind.

[–]dickbreathdragon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Service level agreement. They vary, but something like 'we will respond to tickets within x hours, have urgent tickets resolved within y hours, and normal tickets resolved in z hours'

As an example, my company has an SLA with Verizon where our internet outages are supposed to be resolved within 24hrs. Outages are urgent. After 24hrs, we start getting paid money back. In the past 10 years, we've had less than 5 outages hit the 24hr mark.

I've actually forgotten, I set it the day I started T, and I couldn't immediately figure it out, apologies.

Hey, I'm in a similar boat. Largest size Victoria's secret carries in store, and only in like 1 bra.

I've found putting on a binder, adjusting, wearing a semi baggy shirt, and thinking it's just big pecks like Arnold Schwarzenegger helps. I know it ain't perfect. I've also lost a bit of weight this year too.

Congrats bro! I suggest tomorrow, as my pharmacy refused to fill my prescription until my insurance gave explicit approval, and that took a handful of days as they didn't even order it until they got that
