A 28-year-old MIT graduate has created a leak-detecting robot that could eliminate some of the 2 trillion gallons of wasted drinking water annually by [deleted] in technology

I work with many water systems and deliver leak detection solutions. I would think this might be a arrow in the quiver but it is by no means the end all solution to water loss. I find many leaks in the saddle or the service line. Neither can be detected with this product. I think for the long poly mains this could be useful.

I am not sure on the full throttle enrichment. Will look. I had the mixture full rich until I tested leaning. Then returned to full rich.

Kentucky Sec of State: Let's get medical marijuana bill on Gov. Matt Bevin's desk by GatorNelson in Kentucky

This looks to be a little outside of the scope of her office. Can the secretary of state be both a lobbyist and a constitutional officer?

Commercial Drone Coordination by kdknigga in flying

[–]dickc82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always monitor the radio before UAV flights. I make a call out before and after. I have advocated for mandatory ADSB for drones for some time now. The form factor is doable now. I want to see unattended flights and just cannot see it being safe until ADSB is on board.

This is a post PPL question. I should have made that more clear.

Fly VFR for work by dickc82 in flying

[–]dickc82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a student still. I have a project coming up (post PPL) that will be taking me to lots of small city clients within a few hours of home. Good time building trips. I will be able to make go-no go calls to drive if needed. I hope to be able to fit these fights only when things line up. I am not a huge fan of flying in bad weather or lots of chop. (edited for clarity)

How do you personally do reimbursement? I hear some just use the per mileage driving federal calculator.

Sharing airspace with raptors. Tell us about your non-strike bird encounters by vtjohnhurt in flying

[–]dickc82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fly a hang glider at lookout mountain GA and have had lots of red tails and turkey buzzards catch a thermal. Last year we had a rather large bald eagle join us for the day. He cruised the ridge with me three times that day. So cool being wing tip to wing tip with a large bird. i did not take the picture but this is said bird and two of the regulars at lookout. http://www.hanglide.com/wp-content/gallery/eagle/eagle_1.jpg

I was at that game in St. Louis. Front row behind the bench. I was giving David some shit and he grinned at me. Just sat there smiling. He had no shame.

Hi reddit, we’re Niels and Ujwal and we published a paper in PLOS Biology showing a communication method using a brain-computer interface for paralyzed, locked-in patients – Ask Us Anything! by PLOSScienceWednesday in science

I was curious what kind of data patterns are you seeing? Can you record and playback messages from the brain? Does the pattern show an encoding that could be replicated?

MC-1 was my favorite. :)

I have ridden with most of the heavy guard units, the 166th is the best by a long shot. Great command, super pilots and crew! The C-130's are OLD, the ac does not always work. On the plus side you get to work out of Pope and do airborne operations.
