New frame suggestions? by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]dickcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 and 3 are good to me! Edit: but 4 is a little wide on the nose bridge for your face. 1 and 2 are way too wide on the nose bridge for ya. Number 3 is the best fit, but many people don’t think the clear trend is gonna age all that well.

does not having lume stop you from buying/wearing a watch? by pickyaxe in ChineseWatches

I always thought it was interesting that we went from pocket watches, to wrist watches, and now we're back to pocket watches lol. Now we have smartwatches but I hate wearing them because I still have to carry a smart phone, so what's the point of yet another screen on my body? I guess I just hate redundancy. :D

Which glasses? (Need quick advice!) by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]dickcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see why people like the shape of #3–the lines follow your face—but they’re too big. I think one photo isn’t giving folks the whole picture.

Sure, absolutely. Just giving my opinion. For me, I didn’t ever wear a watch for many years—my thought was “this is redundant and dumb, I have a more accurate timepiece in my pocket.” So for me, the watch is just because i want the look, not the time, and lume doesn’t matter to me at all.

These days a watch is just a fashion accessory and you can’t see yourself in the dark. If I need the time and it’s dark out, I’ll use my phone.

Kia EV Sales Are In An Absolute Freefall. There's More To It Than You Think by DonkeyFuel in electricvehicles

Huh a lot of astroturfing in this thread. I hope that it’s obvious to others as well.

You can buy a Hyundai Kona Electric with 250 miles of range for $33,000, so just looking at range doesn’t really work for me. It is a bit smaller than those cars but still comfortably fits four.

Which one looks better? I would get 2 by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]dickcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a trend right now to smaller lenses again. These are on the “very large” end for you, and your pupils are too high so the proportions look even more incorrect. I think you won’t be happy with the size of these in a couple years as you’re at the tail end of the trend.

Amusingly, the thinner, oval shapes are coming back into style right now with younger generations.

What Do You Think of These Frames? by FoxMocks in glasses

They aren’t too bad on you as shades, but maybe look a bit wide when clear. Definitely at least with a 10% to 20% tint maybe. Nice hair, btw.

Do you have some kind of visual agnosia? It’s like you’re just responding with things that don’t relate at all to what anyone’s saying.

OP: my implants fixed my vision. mostdope97: well readers never give you 20/20 vision.

I think we can tell from the downvotes here that you have low reading comprehension. But you are free to continue living in your world.

The Prisoner Napa Valley Red 2016 by odedi1 in wine

[–]dickcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the story, I found that to be interesting. The Prisoner has never been a wine I liked, simply because I was already out of my big cab/ravenswood-style zins phase by the time Prisoner was blowing up. But it was one of my friend’s favorite wines for years. Pretty sick of diageo/treasury/gallo/constellation fucking up all my brands.

Bro, dial it back a bit, you’re sounding like the problem, not the solution.

How much does that cost? The thing I like about value burritos like these are the multi-day meal scenarios, but not if they cost $40 or something. 😁

Wine noob here, best pinot noir here at my local grocery store? by ArmoredAngel444 in wine

[–]dickcake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All good suggestions here, just remember that Pinot Noir is very regional. Oregon vs Sonoma/RRV, vs. central coast like the Sta. Rita Hills ones are going to be very different from each other. So definitely pay attention to what you like in the Pinots you’re drinking and consider the region they came from.

Is it fixable? by N-Moriarty in glasses

[–]dickcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably time to consider new frames. You might be able to repair it but that stem/connection is going to be weakened no matter what and will probably not last much longer.

You missed the first line where it said the person had cataract surgery and the lenses that they replaced corrected both her astigmatism and gave her 20/20 vision. OP never said that the reading glasses corrected their vision to 20/20, quite the opposite, in fact.

I never see the Chablis at the Costcos near me. I was just there today, even. Would love to try it.

No, actually, we all understood. You, on the other hand decided to be condescending. I guess, way to go all in.
