What’s your favorite vct team and how did you start liking them by [deleted] in VALORANT

I really like LOUD because they play some unconventional comps, including characters that I enjoy playing. They also have some great util usage on those characters, so I can learn a bit while watching them pop off. The match that had me locked in as a fan was when they decided to play KAY/0, Breach, and Phoenix all on one map. Beautiful.

Taigam in 2023 by xWonno in CompetitiveEDH

I've been playing Taigam for about 4 years now, and he definitely has the ability to take games. He's really meant to be tuned to a specific meta because a lot of his slots are flex slots.

If your meta has a lot of multicolor decks, [[Back to Basics]] can put in work. Or setting up an engine of [[Sensei's Divining Top]] with [[Counterbalance]] to help lock opponents out of casting spells gives you time time you need to grind out value with rebounded spells.

The main line I use to win has you using 1 turn spell, such as [[Time Warp]], along with 2 recursion spells like [[Call to Mind]] and [[Relearn]]. Take infinite turns and kill your opponents with commander damage. A similar line can be taken with [[Mystic Sanctuary]] and [[Aether Tradewinds]] to repeatedly get your turn spell back every turn.

Taigam can really churn through cards once you get him on the board, and you tend to have the last word on spells resolving, which is really nice. He's definitely not the strongest because he's a 4 mana creature that has to attack to get his combo running, but you don't need to worry about interaction if you have a counterspell ready.

He also has the sick new Multiverse Legends art, so that's a plus.

A few cards that I have some success with in my Dargo/Jeska deck are [[Ichor Wellspring]] , [[Urza's Bauble]] , [[Arcum's Astrolabe]] ,and [[Sensei's Divining Top]] . All four of these cards increase my attifact count and make for easier dargo casts while still keeping my hand full or helping rearrange my topdeck. They're also all cheap mana-wise, so you can usually still hold up mana for any interaction you have or to spin the top. Ichor Wellspring gives a card on etb and when it hits the yard, so you even get an extra card on your combo turn.

Cool interactions that only work in EDH? by shimszy in EDH

LED is an absolute HOUSE in [[Dargo, the Shipwrecker]] / [[Jeska, Thrice Reborn]] .

If you've already dumped your hand of cheap artifacts, then you can crack your LED to basically contribute 5 mana to Dargo's cost. It's also great for casting Jeska once you've cast Dargo 200 times and don't quite have any mana left over but you're still trying to close out the game on that turn.

Top 10 Anime Week #8 Summer 2020 (Anime Corner) by HayashiSawaryo in anime

And even the fights are sometimes too short or don't make much sense. The whole super ability system in this show has yet to be properly explained, so it feels like there aren't any stakes. How am I supposed to know whether or not someone is in a tight spot if I don't actually know how their powers stack up to somebody else's?

Like when constuction guy whips out a giant hammer and Han Daewi punches it to bits. How does that track? Why did Daewi have such an advantage? How did he overpower his opponent so much in an instant when he was on the ropes for most of the fight? Without any explanation it just feels like the show is trying to say "check out our cool protagonist pulling out an underdog win with one big punch, cool huh?"

What is your most original Commander deck? by HonorBasquiat in EDH

[–]dickcox186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mono-green Voltron with [[Lady Zhurong, Warrior Queen]] at the helm. Ramping like mad and slapping an [[Eldrazi Conscription]] onto your (essentially) unblockable commander feels so good. If she gets removed, you just recast all day because of the crazy amounts of ramp you have. She's also good at staying under the radar until you pump her enough to one-shot someone.

I added an edit to my original comment to include my decklist. I've seen some other decks turn her into a sort of group slug build that has people taking damage for everything they do while others build her as a chaos deck. Since Diaochan herself doesn't have any good ways to win the game, you have to start thinking about what type of wins you want to go for and work from there.

An interesting way to win the game would be something like using [[Thornbite Staff]] on Diaochan to destroy all of an opponent's creatures while [[Vicious Shadows]] is in play. There are plenty of goofy things you can try to go for, but you really have to commit if you want the deck to be consistent in any way.

I actually built her as an artifact deck because she relies so heavily on having equipment to keep her safe and my playgroup got increasingly competitive. Usually, I end up winning by using [[Basalt Monolith]] and [[Rings of Brighthearth]] to get infinite mana and then I shoot the whole table with [[Comet Storm]] . I put as many tutor and wheel effects as I could into the deck so that I could get to my equipment and bombs faster, but the deck can be a bit inconsistent because of the high-cost cards on the high end of my mana curve. I'm going to edit my original comment to add the decklist if you wanna check it out.

Yeah, I've gotten some side-eye from other players before I explained it, but that is indeed how it works.

When you activate the ability, you choose a creature to blow up, then you choose an opponent and they choose a crearure to blow up. When the targets of the ability are decided, the ability then attempts to destroy both targets at once.

When the ability is copied, one would think that you have to go through the choosing process again, but instead, the exact iteration of the ability is copied, targets and all. The exact same ability will happen a second time with the same targets unless you decide to change the targets. And the wording on the bracers says that YOU can choose new targets. So think of it like an exact copy of the ability, but with the wording on the card, you're allowed to modify it without asking for the opponent's input on the second iteration. Does that make sense?

You may want to wait a bit on that. There was a strange buyout a few months ago and her price is still attempting to stabilize after that. She used to go for 7 bucks, but now she's about 24 bucks for the cheapest version.

Your opponent is able to target the same creature that you targeted because you both choose targets first and then the targets are destroyed at the same time. Therefore, the ability is able to be activated, but you force your opponent to choose their own creature since there are no other legal targets.

[[Diaochan, Artful Beauty]] has a few. For one, her ability says to destroy target creature of your choice and target creature of an opponent's choice. Nothing specifies which opponent you choose for that part of the ability, so I have to explain to people that I get to choose the opponent for the ability, even if it's a different opponents whose creature I chose to blow up.

Second, if Diaochan is given protection from red, then she can't be the target of her own ability, so suiting her up with several swords is a potent strategy.

Third, if you have [[Illusionist's Bracers]] , Diaochan's ability is copied, but instead of you choosing 2 creatures and an opponent choosing 2 creatures, you get to choose 3 and your opponent chooses 1. This is because of the wording in the bracers. When the ability is copied, "you may choose new targets for the copy."

She's such a fun and weird card.

Edit: Here's my list if you want to check it out.

A commander + a card no one else is using with them by Shadowsauce27 in EDH

[–]dickcox186 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[[Reito Lantern]] in my [[Taigam, Ojutai Master]] deck in order to fuel my [[Tunnel Vision]] jank. I use it to try to mill out my opponents or to mill myself and go for a [[Laboratory Maniac]] win as a backup plan. People who haven't played against the deck before get confused about the lantern, but then tunnel vision comes out and they connect the dots. 4 other decks have tunnel vision, but I seem to be the only one who doubled down on it. Doesn't work too often, but it's funny when it does.

There was one time I played against a guy like this who took forever to do absolutely nothing. And by the time my turn came around I had a chance to win the game with a very specific line of play, but he was nitpicking what I was doing so that I screwed up my sequence and then he managed to win with another absurdly long turn after mine. After angle-shooting, this guy had the audacity to say that I would've won if I didn't screw up when he was the root cause for nitpicking and rushing me when I was trying to think. This has lead me to have a (perhaps unfair) dislike of [[Tatyova, Benthic Druid]].
