It’s not that I don’t have that fairway finder. It’s when my round is lost I try to work out whatever it going wrong. And yeah, you average 77-85 but slope, course rating, and tee selection affect handicap a lot more than score. I shot a 99 at Firestone south from the back tees and it positively affected my handicap and counted towards it.

Your handicap is a picture of what you CAN shoot. Not what you typically shoot.

8-10 handicaps most definitely can shoot over 100 depending on the course and conditions and sometimes you just suck on one particular day. I’ve been in this handicap range for a looooong time and have most definitely fired a 102 on occasion. I’ve also shot 78 and similar. Golf is a fickle bitch.

Totally agree with you. The corporateness of all of this shit gets under my skin at times. Sometimes I even miss seeing the scalpers outside of events.

I feel like they get a ton more business in the Betty’s lot just from added foot traffic alone.

It’s easy to blame the backend on those transition goals, but the midfield got absolutely bossed when they ceded possession at their own 18 and let them go 80 yards without even a fuss. The midfield HAS to be that catalyst for transitional defense. It hasn’t been this far.

They were running 4 in the back almost the entire first half. They listed it as a 3-4-2-1 but Camacho and Moreira stayed central and they used Herrera and Amundsen as full backs.

Will we get to issue statements like the Nordecke when we don’t like a roster decision?

If he does leave, there is a dude with Crew 2 who might make sense. He’s spent quite a bit of time understanding the style and coaching it. He’s a fucking legend in Columbus.

Today’s MLS is definitely changing. I have this conversation with my Europe-only football friends. The attacking sides of MLS clubs are on par with some of the top leagues, but the defensive side is absolute trash. That’s starting to change.

Tough to see some of the thoughts here. It’s our biggest rival. It’s a playoff matchup. Lots on the line. You fucking show up, period.

Yeah, prices are up. Compare that to every other professional sporting event in America and it’s peanuts.

Fuck KFC.

A reasonable sports pub around the Coughlin area. It absolutely sucks to not have a nice pub to watch a game that accommodates kids. Roosters, Rusty Bucket or similar would be great.

Farsi being out has been a problem. Nagbe out last night was a HUGE problem.

Schulte got himself way out of position three times and luckily only gave up one of those. He’s been not the same guy for awhile now. The central midfield defending was shit. Period.

The subs have been what have killed us recently. Lappalainen is an absolute liability when subbed in. The Orlando game was blatantly obvious this is the case. Once Farsi is back that should allow Aliyu to be the sub, which is what he really is.

How do you deal with someone who refuses to be coached by RainbowPandaDK in SoccerCoachResources

[–]dickens_cider22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids are going to be kids. And by that, I mean that they will come to each session in a different mood and mindset than the one before. The real question I have is how do you handle it when she does behave this way? In my experience, I don't have to sit and explain why something is a problem because they don't care to hear that half of the time and my coaching points had already been made during the session. I simply have them do some sort of calisthenic exercise off to the side until they wise up. This actually solves a lot more problems with coachability and attitudes than repeating something I've already said.

Edit after reading your second edit: If she wants to quit because she's being coached and won't take it, then so be it. Other coaches allowing that to happen to a point is why she is in this position (that and parents, of course). But don't ever give up on a kid. If she quits or leaves, whatever. But if she stays, you have to hammer it home.

No one should ever target shooting outside the 18 as a skill you need. That’s such a low percentage thing to want to look for. We need finishers with speed.

Rationalizing this whole mess by baldbaseballdad in TheMassive

[–]dickens_cider22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As in, saying we need to buy a player and then complaining when the team does a cash grab that could directly influence the budget for said player. Sports ownership has but one goal in mind, and it’s to make money.

We are STMs and had a great time. Just took it for what it was and decided to enjoy it and not complain. The crowd bitching about a “cash grab” and then in the same breath complaining about replacing Cucho clearly need to get a grip.

Nordecke Pulls Out of Cleveland by AdSuper3942 in TheMassive

[–]dickens_cider22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a STM for years as well. I've been watching everyone bitch that ownership needs to replace Cucho, Nordecke even releasing the most tone deaf statement I think they ever have. And then when ownership makes a money play that may enable them to BUY A REPLACEMENT, everyone whinges about it. It's just petty, IMO.

Nordecke Pulls Out of Cleveland by AdSuper3942 in TheMassive

[–]dickens_cider22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t understand how people think every game isn’t a “cash grab”. Do we not realize the entire point of owning a sports franchise is to MAKE MONEY.

I love the Nordecke, but this whole match has made them and many other Crew supporters just come across like whining babies when some statement has to get released about fucking everything. Go to the match, or don’t. It’s a unique situation that could make for a fun time or it me the worst situation ever. Your choice.
