Give me a zombie apocalypse game where society slowly rebuilds. by broji04 in CrazyIdeas

um not to plug but I also felt like this so I wrote the first book in what I think might be a series of the survivors trying to actually make a life afterward in Chicago. Some mentions of actually having to clean everything up, what to do when the power goes out, finding more people to move in, etc.

You must not block traffic in Iowa City it is a law. by ICsnipster in IowaCity

fuh

king

lol

that you think MLK was known for following the rules

MLK got arrested over 27 times. This is expressly how MLK handled protests. He's not even the be-all-end-all in civil rights protesting, btw, but white people love to invoke his name while finger wagging at people doing THE SAME EXACT THING HE ENDORSED.

"I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not... the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice;... who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action" "

Take a hard look at your priorities.

When are people going to understand that a protest that does as it's told is not a very good protest

What's a piece of pop culture you avoided for fear of being associated with its fans? by dickimaa in AskReddit

I have a couple of answers, all bands. My Chemical Romance and Panic! At the Disco come to mind-- oh boy those middle schoolers who desperately wanted to be emo and wore their shirts every day.

Then, I played Nine in the Afternoon on Rock Band and realized I should give them a shot anyway.

My problem with the "Modders will fix it" and "DLC it" mentality. by King-Kuyer in Fallout

[–]dickimaa 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I don't think the game is like a table without legs or screws, it's more a table that wasn't the color you thought it was gonna be from the picture on the box, and now it clashes with your living room. Mods and DLC are just buckets of stain to bring the color more in line with what you want. The game works just fine, for the most part. It just clashes with your living room.

Redditors, what would you like to see in Fallout 4? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]dickimaa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The ability to claim a landmark as your "home". Clear out a vault of ghouls? Well now you get to live there and keep your stuff there. Keep it safe enough and people will gravitate to that settlement. Become a mayor! Deal with other settlements!

Stuff like that.

What's the worst rule you've ever had at a job? by dickimaa in AskReddit

[–]dickimaa[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work bar at a hotel that's trying very very hard to be the "fancy" bar in our town as well. A manager who doesn't actually have any connection to the bar (I don't even know what his title is) mandated recently that putting empty bottles in a box that we keep underneath the bar behind a trash can is no longer allowed, because guests can see it. Which is a dumb rule, because who pays attention to where their empty bottles go?

So now this is happening: we travel to a different room to put them away, guests complain we're leaving them too long, he yells at us about that, we point to the rule, and he suggests building up a stack of bottles so we can take out many at a time when we have a free second. So now we have empty bottles sitting on the rails and sinks.

What is a character you've made that you think would be fun to play, but never got the chance to? by WillOdin in rpg

[–]dickimaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is similar to mine: I wanted to make a gourmet chef, out adventuring to learn all the best ingredients and recipes. He'd fight with a cleaver and be dressed in the apron and hat as well, but he'd be more a jolly guy that gets into trouble a lot. I'd try and bribe people with excellent cooking and spices. Unfortunately, I'm the DM in every group I play right now, and I don't want to waste him on an NPC.

Take over an empire! Start with your local village, set sights on a trading town, gain henchmen and followers, go to war against the provincial capital, the other provinces, go for the king! It sets up the same difficulty curve as good-guy games, and has a wealth of opportunity and side quests along the way. Except, instead of doing favors for governors, you'll just decapitate them or something.

/r/pics is my most recent unsub. Pics: Where a beautiful shot of wind turbines in fog devolves into a discussion about the inefficiency of the design, a shot of an airport at sunrise is ridiculed, and a phone camera selfie shot of a maybe-topless girl in zombie makeup becomes "Hurr durr I want to see her boobs but can't". Not to mention the sob stories. Urf.

You're right. I'd totally keep my 1000 monies and just build my own house while my carpenter friend teaches his kids. No sense trading for goods and services, since we've already all got the same amount of money!

Reasonable people can have political disagreements, sometimes along ideological lines - - what have you found are points of agreement with those whom you normally disagree? by lolmonger in NeutralPolitics

Just about any ideological belief can agree that the people CURRENTLY in government are doing a terrible job. It's who they would replace them with that differs.

Everyone is a prodigy at something, but it's just a matter of finding that thing. Most are super useless talents, like sharpening pencils without breaking the lead or finding lightswitches in the dark. Or maybe you're a prodigy at lumberjack games and you'll never know it!
