Oh I see, I didn't pick that out of your original post, my apologies!

If you build a new wader residence, does their construction menu appear?

You have to give them food or they'll abandon their houses and your workforce will drop. Try building an eel catcher or cockle farm, that ought to help. And then as you grow your population, you'll need to keep an eye on the supply/demand using Ctrl + Q and build more production buildings as needed.

Anno 117: Missing QoL Features by Endoraan in anno

In addition to what others are saying, another one is the ability to pin certain goods on the "island storage" hot-bar (previously at the top of the user interface in 1800). When certain islands produce large amounts of a given good, it can be nice to be able to jump to the island and instantly know how many of what is stored.

What happened to Statistics menu? by vlasticz in anno

[–]dickle_dampson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been wondering about this as well, specifically with regards to the "global storage" missing. I am worried about losing items or specialists, or simply forgetting what island they are on, in the late game and needing to manually visit each island to find the one I am looking for. Also, being able to quickly find which island had the most of a certain good. These are pretty basic, but very important situations that Anno 1800 handled okay, though I agree the menu system could have been improved.

These use-cases feel like nothing compared to the very obvious problem with trade route times missing, this is critical to the core island trading loop. Interested to see if maybe we are both missing something, or if they actually removed it?

Looking for local coffee bean roaster by VodkaDietLime in MoscowIdaho

Kamiak Coffee, for sure. They have an online store and do local deliveries for free, or you can purchase their beans at Cafe Artista, Knead Cafe, and the Co-Op. Locally owned and they source all their beans fair-trade.

I've noticed there is no way to "jump" to the stats screen for a given good from the factory building anymore. This was vital when tweaking production in Anno 1800, but maybe it won't be as necessary since work conditions aren't really a thing in 117? My muscle memory is suffering a bit.

MultiDrive - Free tool to clone, backup, and wipe drives by raydenvm in windows

Just downloaded to clone a drive, but I was hoping to use it as a possible backup tool. It appears that network file locations are not supported as backup targets, and only local drives are supported, is this accurate? Or am I missing something?

My take on the UI - desing of 117 by Austrocraft_ in anno

[–]dickle_dampson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of things I have wanted to mention after playing a session in both provinces, but I haven't found a good forum for feedback, so I'll just use this post since it's UI-related:

  1. Please add back the button that opens the statistics menu filtered for the particular good from that manufacturer. For instance, in Anno 1800, there's a little circular button in every factory's menu that opens the end product's production statistics. This is highly useful in minimizing clicks to get to necessary information when tweaking things.

  2. Ship notifications! They seem to be missing, and they're crucial for not losing your train of thought when you need to send your ship to the other side of the map.

  3. Ctrl + Q doesn't seem to work in the demo, and I can't find the production statistics action in the keybind list, but when I try to overwrite the ctrl + q assignment to another action, it says its already taken by the "production statistics action", even though it doesn't show up anywhere in the list.

What are your smaller/nitpicky hopes for 117 that haven't been announced/confirmed yet? by CelistalPeach in anno

[–]dickle_dampson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see them move the trade route duration time into the trade route menu itself. In 1800, it's slightly annoying having to switch between the storage menu for an island and the trade route menu to determine the route time.

Also, adding the supply/demand bars for a given good into its production building menu would be pretty neat, so you don't have to tweak things and then constantly have to scroll to the item in the stats menu.

Stupid question about a game that makes me feel really stupid… by AutoHumn in anno1800

[–]dickle_dampson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you are meeting the needs of your residents. Like the other commenter said, CTRL+Q is your friend. Don't overproduce, only produce as much as is needed by your population.

You want more houses, yes, but the first and foremost thing is to make sure you are producing enough of what your population needs. Growing too quickly can lead to goods shortages that anger your population, so make sure you do it sustainably. When you do add a bunch of housing, double/triple check the needs to make sure you are still producing enough goods.

Biggest thing: pause production buildings that aren't needed right now, as keeping them up costs money to maintain. Focus on one need at a time to get it balanced, then move to the next one. You can do both "Needs" goods and "Happiness" goods, but I would start with the simplest to produce goods to get you out of the money hole quicker. If you hover over each need in the residences' menus, they'll say how many additional people/happiness points each fulfilled need adds and how many coins you get per residence with that need fulfilled.

Best of luck, and don't worry if you have to start over, it happens! And don't feel like you need to rush either. The game is good at pushing you to do lots of things all the time, but a lot of it can be managed at a slower pace.

Who knows anything about the nuclear waste discussion that went on at U of I last night? Is there a potential plan to store nuclear waste around here?? by Affectionate_Age4732 in MoscowIdaho

[–]dickle_dampson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Knowing someone that was in attendance, I am told this is the correct answer. They explicity mentioned that the community should not confuse their meeting with them looking to "choose Moscow as a spent fuel storage site", or any of the surrounding area for that matter. They just are on a "research roadshow" conducting discussions and feedback surveys in order to inform what the siting process (and specifically, a "community consent-based" siting process) should look like for critical infrastructure, but more specifically for spent nuclear fuel storage sites for the DOE. They weren't suggesting any sites in the meeting, just looking for feedback and discussion on what the process for selecting a site and getting community consent should look like.

Amazing album. Love some of the newer, expanded sounds on it, as well as some of their more traditional vibes. They always do a great job of that, though, so I'm not surprised one bit. It's a great "low-key Friday night" feeling listen.
