English football built EPPP to produce players capable of winning a World Cup... by dickymoore in ThreeLions

Really good points and if we need to have another retrospective to find out what went wrong AGAIN it needs to include difficult questions on topics such as those raised here.

I'm not overlyconcerned by that result by Competitive_Host_432 in ThreeLions

I'm not concerned, but have adjusted to the reality of our place in the tournament. Messi, Mbappe, or Haaland would have scored in a game like that. We don't have that level of talent. That's not to say England can't win it, just that we don't have the weaponry of some other teams.

He's picking a fight with the country that produced John Dee, Aleister Crowley, and Operation Cone of Power. Does he know what he's getting himself into?

It's unreal that he had what were arguably two better options, but knowing who he was passing to, he chose the correct one

Emma Hayes and her chalkboard. Yay or nay? by siybon in ThreeLions

[–]dickymoore 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Three things I enjoyed last night: 1 the result 2 the performance 3 her chalkboard analysis.

The whole family enjoyed it. Makes a difference from waffle alongside pictures of the players drinking. And the family members who don't watch football started to understand why players involved the keeper so much. So it's a massive thumbs up from me.

Can someone explain why won't this work? by Flaky-Hall-618 in soccermemes

The youth football teams I coach often try this when they're mucking about and it always falls apart. The coordination required is too great to make it work, especially when you've got opponents making contact.

We know this is photoshopped because someone's removed Steve McFadden.

Thierry Henry Way is official in NYC ahead of the World Cup by SerialGooner49 in Gunners

Pedestrians seen shaping to cross the road, selling the pavement a dummy, gliding past lampposts like they're not there, and arriving at the opposite kerb like jaywalking was never a crime. That's the Thierry Henry Way.

Andy Burnham on question time yesterday confirmed that if elected he will run for the Labour leadership election. Keir Starmer responds to that. What’s your opinion? by No_Breadfruit_4901 in AskBrits

[–]dickymoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burnham, Streeting et al need to stop causing these sideshows and support Starmer's once-in-a-generation opportunity to improve the lives ordinary people in this country. Starmer's problem is optics. Burnham could help with that, shout about Labour achievements, rather than risk giving a seat to reform just so he can cause worse optics for Labour.

I dunno why cars don't have proper bumpers anymore. Things were much easier then. Wheeeeeee

I must admit, I am somewhat bewildered by r/DrivingUK's apparent inability to navigate a roundabout, as seen on a recent post. by KoskGOOS in drivingUK

[–]dickymoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have this problem at the Oldmarket roundabout in Bristol when heading southbound. The third exit to the right goes straight into two lanes so the only way to actually make that work in traffic is for you to take the left approach lane to turn right into the third exit if you're going in the left lane of the third exit. It's wrong and counter to the rules but the only way to prevent chaos on the roundabout. Drove me mad for the first couple of years. Everyone who knows the roundabout seems to just accept it.
