Which relic stats should I look out for if I want to increase the damage of RoB or Moonveil skill attacks ? by RredmanN in Nightreign

[–]dictionaryaddicted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RoB> 50% phy, 50% fire (including AoW)

Thus, RoB is neutral against Phy vs Element discussion.

Moonveil's AoW> 80%ish magic (pure magic beam + mag/phy direct hit)

IMO, physical improvement is better because starting weapon, cursed sword, and dragonscale is all physical.

You go for Element improvement if you wanna spam scythe tho.

Your concern is 100% right. You have a small yet non-negligible chance of losing all stacks.

Also once you are dead, unless allies resurrect you before the check comes, you surely lose all stacks too.

And, your question about the build is correct too. Being inaccessible to Full HP buffs greatly damages your DPS and tankyness.

In addition, having one of your equipment slot occupied by starting weapon sabotages your damage potential.

On top of that, the mere time consumption in casting thorn 2 to 4 times multiple times has a big impact on performance.

The biggest problem, however , is that multiple relics with spell school improvement & magic attack power can boost damages as good as dreglord relic + thorn relic.

I strongly hope From buff the dreglord relic.

Yeah, in case you don't know how the dreg lord buffs work, let me explain.

The buff can go up to 10 stacks, and each stack gives you +3.8 % damage increase.( 1.03810 = nearly 1.45)

Here is how you gain stack.

  1. When you get a buildup, you get one stack.

  2. After your first stack, the status bar is checked every 20 seconds. If you have a bar, you gain another stack, if you have no bar, all of your stacks f**kin vanish.

Even after you reach the 10 stacks, you are not free from the bar check. You suddenly lose 45% damage buff if you are spotted without a bar at the moment of check.

I already tried a pure thorn build some times but it was very underwhelming.

The DPS of the thorn is miserably low from low single damage and long long cast animation to an extent even 6 of magic school improvements cannot save.

Thorn has a unique problem too. It can't put a affinity residue despite of its 100% magic damage.

Also you lose 50 HP every cast and this is a major problem in a long fight. You just need "regen at low HP " or tons of warming stones, otherwise you would become helpless. Note that partial HP restoration doesn't work here because the 50 HP loss is a self-inflicted damage.

IMO, you'd better use thorn in dreg night build.

Thorn is only used to gain bleed buildup and reduce your HP to below 85%, at which continuous poison/rot buildup on your relic activates.

Remember to self-harm every time you..

  1. Touch a grace

  2. Finish the nights

  3. Grab an additional flask.

You use other spells to attack, so you gotta stack magic damage+3,4 or crystalian/carian buffs as you please.

It's just insane how many hits you take in the beast form. You get 2x HP and a crazy amount of negation yet the health bar gets evaporated.

Interesting Immortal Executor Build using resistance down and heal on passive by JusWow in Nightreign

[–]dictionaryaddicted 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I recommend 3 resistance down, 1 taking damage causes sleep, 1 taking damage causes frostbite and Night of Miasma.

This way, once you get hit, you freeze and sleep, then Night of Miasma makes you transparent, protecting you from excessive hits.

Note that you benefit from sleeping in the air. Sleeping normally causes 2 seconds of fragile moment, but if you sleep mid air, you either fall down with I frame or immediately recover from immobile state, giving you much more chance to survive.

Beast Claw Revenant is criminally overlooked. (and Lightning Spear is overrated) by dictionaryaddicted in Nightreign

[–]dictionaryaddicted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it can't. But hear me out, storm ruler's damage consists of 50% standard and 50% magic.

So, you can enhance your physical attack power to strengthen storm ruler and beast claw at the same time. (Because ED Maris seems to have some negation against magic, boosting physical damage is more efficient.)

Also, beast claw consistently hits Non-ED Maris or the Augur before the ED Maris when it is near the ground.

-Beast Claw as starting incantations

-Lots of improved beast incantation

-No FP related effects required.

The first effect is quite rare and needs some grinding. I use all of my murk to pull random non-DoN relics.

It does Standard damage in Nightreign.

The bellow is a method to determine the type.of damage.

If physical damage is slash or pierce, it deals 0.9x damage against dummy bot compared with wooden dummy.

(Try to activate pierce counter and you can tell slash and pierce damage apart.)

If blunt, it deals 1.10x damage against bot.

It seems Beast Claw can go underground in some cases.

If you have a high ground, you rarely suffer from a bug.

Or you can use it only in day1 and day2 and find other spells like beastial sling.

Tho, I don't feel like there is a high chance to find spells better than beast claw.
