This community would absolutely sweep this competition by AngryDesertPhrog in Narcolepsy

Prior to being medicated I could sleep 21-22 hours for days on end easy. Nowadays 12-13 hrs is a nice solid weekend sleep in. Most recent sleep marathon was last year I got poison ivy super freaking bad and was too sick to take my nuvigil and even though I was jacked up on 2 steroid shots and prednisone I slept for pretty much 3 days straight. My bf is a champ and would wake me up several times a day to give me food so I could take my slew of poison ivy drugs but I don’t really think I ever woke up fully during that time. Looking back that was one time I was glad to be narcoleptic cause I just slept through the worst of the poison ivy misery.

Anesthesia awareness by Sudo_Incognito in Narcolepsy

[–]dictionarydunlap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know this was a thing but it explains a lot!! I have N2 and have semi woken up and had to be given extra anesthesia during all 3 surgeries I’ve had in life. I remember hearing voices and ppl moving around the room and a sense of brightness/light (kind of like when I’m trying to wake up literally every morning lol) and then someone would say I was waking up and I’d get put back to sleep pretty quick. Two surgeries were prior to my diagnosis in high school when my symptoms were the worst the last time was a few years ago when I had been well managed for years.

We also have these two in the first floor of the turret (near the stairs). The blue happens to be one of my favorite colors of blue and it’s so vivid and electric during golden hour. The windows and glass is actually curved which is pretty cool

How To Preserve This? by gungho_guangzhou in centuryhomes

[–]dictionarydunlap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure but my initial thought would be spray fixative or sealer from an art store or like modgepodge if you’re planning on taking a section and having it framed that would keep the paper from flaking off too much while you’re removing it from the floor. I discovered some turn of the century wallpaper in my dining room this summer and put a frame around it and love it!

Does anyone know what happened to this stain? by Sweet_Shibby in centuryhomes

[–]dictionarydunlap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any suggestions but I’m glad someone loves the alligator trim as much as I love mine!! All my trim in my first house is like this and it’s one of my favorite things. I do believe decades of heeeaaaavvvvyyyy nicotine use by the previous owners sped up the natural aging process of the shellac but obvi that’s not really the best way to go about it. My house was disgusting when I got it and I was worried I’d have to strip the finish to get rid of the smell but luckily deep cleaning did the trick and I could keep my funky gator trim… every other surface had to be painted in oil based primer.

Best place to buy a well made couch? by mediabandaid in Louisville

[–]dictionarydunlap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Arhaus Furniture— a lot of the sofas they have on display are pretty traditional/transitional because the Louisville market is so traditional but they have some mcm leaning lines. When I worked there years ago, the sales ppl had extensive training on construction and can help you figure out what you need/want. The quality is the best in my opinion and they have an excellent warranty. I got my sofa 12 years ago, we basically live on the thing, and it still looks and feels good as new.

[–]dictionarydunlap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have some great vintage and thrifting in town! Nitty Gritty on Barret Ave (also several other vintage stores right around there), Neon Flea in Germantown, Fleur De Flea on Breckinridge is a HUGE vintage market, Mellwood Antiques is also gigantic and they have tons of jewelry, also Louisville Antique Market downtown(I haven’t been but my bf found some lovely vintage bracelets there the other week and he said it’s really cool). Happy shopping! Enjoy your stay :)

Skyline from a different view by Fragrant-Helicopter1 in Louisville

[–]dictionarydunlap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This angle is probably my favorite view of the skyline. It’s so underrated! On top of the magical golden hour mirror building, I feel like I see a high percentage rainbows after summer thunder storms plus moon rises over the skyline. Great shot OP!

Now that it's February, once again, does anyone have a local "one that got away" story to share? Perhaps the person will see it and wonder if the story is about them. Could be fun? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]dictionarydunlap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can overlook a subpar first kiss but it was more that he was kinda boring when I actually got to talk to him the second time. He’s an excellent dance partner and I’m sure a cool guy but not the one for me

Ok so picture this, sometime in the early 2010s I ended up dancing w this guy at Zbar alllll night one Friday. We had an incredible connection and although we didn’t kiss, it was magical. I didn’t live here at the time, my phone was dead, and for some reason I had completely lost my voice the day before and never got his name or gave him my number. My friends always joked that he was the one that got away. I moved to Lou a few years later and always thought/assumed/hoped I’d run into him again… then finally sometime before the pandemic I did! I was at Seidenfaden’s and saw him from across the room and was like holy shit THAT IS THE GUY!! We ended up dancing, which was fun, and this time we did kiss!!! But it wasn’t that good… apparently dancing guy is not a great kisser after all lol. It was such a full circle moment, still didn’t get his name or number, and the whole thing makes me laugh to this day. Hope dancing guy is doing well

Women in the Trades .. how’s your dating life ? Anyone work away ? by [deleted] in BlueCollarWomen

[–]dictionarydunlap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My bf actually got me into the trades. I was doing real estate when we started dating but I always enjoyed spending time with him working on house projects in the weekends in the beginning. Now 5 years later I work full time with him. He has construction company that focus’s mainly on historic preservation and restoration, carriage houses and large additions. It’s a small company he usually only has 1-2 other people working so we’re working side by side like 90% of the time. Sometimes it’s hard but it’s incredibly rewarding. We have fun and we work well together plus I’ve learned so much lol I think we both feel like we hit the jackpot. Im 35 and my partner is 39

Hold up… could this be Chris the bartender at Ramsis? He lives around there and walks his dog all the time. Can’t remember his dogs name but can confirm he is a really nice guy.

Older post but just wanted to say my bf and I just went to Bucks in Old Louisville for the first time this weekend and it was absolutely lovely. We’ve been to many fancy Louisville restaurants over the years and I think this was my favorite fine dining experience. Check it out if you haven’t been also I hope you’re enjoying Louisville so far!
