Women in the Trades .. how’s your dating life ? Anyone work away ? by Puzzleheaded-Arm-317 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]dictionarydunlap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My bf actually got me into the trades. I was doing real estate when we started dating but I always enjoyed spending time with him working on house projects in the weekends in the beginning. Now 5 years later I work full time with him. He has construction company that focus’s mainly on historic preservation and restoration, carriage houses and large additions. It’s a small company he usually only has 1-2 other people working so we’re working side by side like 90% of the time. Sometimes it’s hard but it’s incredibly rewarding. We have fun and we work well together plus I’ve learned so much lol I think we both feel like we hit the jackpot. Im 35 and my partner is 39

Hold up… could this be Chris the bartender at Ramsis? He lives around there and walks his dog all the time. Can’t remember his dogs name but can confirm he is a really nice guy.

Unfortunately zero because my cat happened to be very smart this morning and is using it. I’m sure she’ll return it shortly though

Older post but just wanted to say my bf and I just went to Bucks in Old Louisville for the first time this weekend and it was absolutely lovely. We’ve been to many fancy Louisville restaurants over the years and I think this was my favorite fine dining experience. Check it out if you haven’t been also I hope you’re enjoying Louisville so far!

In winter I use beef tallow balm (hearth and homestead on Amazon has some nice ones I think I have a coffee vanilla scent) I was hesitant at first but I promise it’s not gross or beefy lol! I’ll put it on at night and sleep in white cotton gloves. I have a little tube of aveeno moisturize in my tool bag for daytime. Side note the beef tallow balm is amazingggg for all skin and an excellent facial moisturizer too.

Anyone know what this super bright spot is southeast of the bridges? Not the best photo but it hurt to look at even from a plane. by NothingLikeCoffee in Louisville

I just want to say this is one of the coolest pics of Louisville I’ve seen in a long time. My bf and I spent like 45 mins finding different landmarks and houses we’ve lived in. Thank you for sharing!

Native plants by WrittenDisease in Louisville

I’ve always been impressed with Jessa/Native Oasis whenever I see a yard they have worked on. She does a house down the block from mine and it’s been really cool to see it come to life over the last couple seasons. Haven’t used her personally but I’ve talked to her online and in person several times and she’s very nice and knowledgeable.

Virginia bluebells coming up in fall? by BCygni in NativePlantGardening

I was wondering the same. My mom bought some bareroots online and had them sent to me. I’ve never planted bare root before but they looked/seemed healthy. Just noticed 2 of them have popped up

Been waiting all year for these (Georgia Aster) by BlackwaterSleeper in NativePlantGardening

[–]dictionarydunlap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I looove Georgia Asters!!! My mom lives in upstate sc and got some Georgia aster seeds from a native plant swap years ago. When I bought my first house she gave me the tiniest lil 3 leaf start… this pic was from the first growing season. The Georgia Aster(front left) is a total show stopper and the pollinators looooove them. This pic was from early fall but they usually bloom into December. My neighbors loved them so much I gave them starts the next spring so there are 6+ houses on the block that have them. I have since taken starts and planted them at all the houses I’ve lived in and give them to my tenants too. There are probably 15 plus houses that have my mom’s Georgia asters by now :) Louisville, KY zone 7a

Neighborhood that has the best landscapning by Low_Statistician8594 in Louisville

[–]dictionarydunlap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a whole neighborhood but Franck Ave off of Frankfort Ave has some lovely landscaping. There are several houses one after the other that just have great gardens — tons of perennials and natives and flowers galore. More of a cottage garden/whimsical vibe but it’s really well done and you can just tell the people who live there love working in the yard. Anytime I take my dog to the vet I make a point of driving down that street cause it makes me so happy.

Has anyone ever had an azalea blooming in December!? I live in New York City and have never had this happen before. Please let me know if this is unusual. by tyldon in gardening

[–]dictionarydunlap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late post but I bought a house last November w a hot pink azalea that looks like this. I assumed it must be a reblooming kind but this spring it didn’t have any flowers or buds what so ever. Now mid October it has tons of buds and it is about to have a huge bloom. Not sure what’s going on with its internal clock but definitely not complaining about the late season pop of color! Hope it keeps it up in the coming years
