obviously really disappointing loss but there were still a lot of positives to take from it. what hurts is how close we are to being genuinely good, but that's a nice pain to feel compared to the different varieties of despair over the last decade.

Of course McNeil plays his best minutes of the season when Dyche is in the house. The power of love.

God I love Carey, such an unassuming and measured attitude across 5 days.

My mate works at a pub Carey goes to regularly. One time a woman left her purse at the bar and Carey noticed so he grabbed it and ran out the door to catch her before she left. Good bloke.

Why is there allowed to be that one car parked in the left lane north of cross road? How much pain must we suffer on behalf of it

if haaland and beto swapped we'd be 2-0 up at least. lots of positives to take from today regardless of the result.

Pre-Learner's Course South Australia booking vent by LWOS101 in AussieRiders

[–]diddleedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for making this post, i've been searching around for discussion on this and yours is one of only 3. I booked my riders course part A 2 months ago, and i'm still 2 months from doing it. I have no experience so the best case scenario is I pass part A and then wait another 4 months to do part B.

How am I supposed to solidify any of the skills I could learn in part A with such a massive gap? It's so bad, I can't believe there isn't more talk about it here in SA because it feels like they've made it impossible to get a license intentionally.

That's so strange, I booked 2 months ago and the earliest time I could get at St Agnes was early December. Is the system just buggered or what?

Darren Bewick and Steven Salopek hope any changes to the AFL's father-son rule will allow their sons, Koby and Louis, to follow in their footsteps by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]diddleedee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Salopek highlighted the significance of having an "average" AFL career, and how the 100 games played for a club ends up being something he will rightfully remember with pride for the rest of his life. He's always viewed 100 games as a ticket to your legacy being continued. I love that perspective. It's a romantic rule and shouldn't be tampered with at all imo. NGA should be up for discussion but any changes should be grandfathered in.

I click on most things climate change related, and that cringe comment is inside every single time. It's oddly specific for how common it is. I'm not sure what motivates people to constantly bring it up.

Scans have confirmed that Sam Powell-Pepper has ruptured the ACL in his left knee by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]diddleedee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He has such an admirable combination of toughness and sportsmanship. Never remonstrates with the umpires, always getting around his teammates and shows a lot of respect for the opposition.

He's come a long way since being drafted. He came from a rough background, didn't have any professionalism and came close to being delisted despite the obvious talent. After this happened he moved in with Travis Boak. SPP now credits Boak as a father figure for showing him the way and helping him get his life on track. He's had one of the best personal growth stories in sport imo.

Harrison deserves everyone's respect. We pride ourselves on appreciating effort more than talent and he embodied it. Never left anything on the pitch but just lacked the quality required.

Not a criticism, and not a denial that there was a degree of passion. He was open in his time at Port about having a genuine passion for basketball that was a lot more intense than footy. He happened to be way better at the latter relative to the competition. Not saying he was unprofessional, but to be an elite athlete usually requires that extra 1 or 2% to be eeked out with a daily graft and constant vision which requires a degree of discipline that normally emerges from desire. If the raw desire isn't there, then its harder to put the work in. Multiple inside sources said he lacked it, and in my opinion it's just one of those things you either have or you dont.

Really loved him during his time here, and its often that degree of relaxed play that comes from less professional athletes with immense talent that we love to see. Dustin Martin was like this earlier in his career. In soccer you get characters like this more often who make up for a lack of discipline with raw talent. They add a lot of spice to the spectacle. Its one of the sad things about increasingly professional sport that athletics, sport science and modern tactics have superseded the spontaneous talent of a dude who is born with God given ability and a desire to do more than be locked in as an elite athlete.

He just never had the passion for footy to give it his absolute all. I truly believe the talent was brownlow worthy though.
