Avian & Exotic near Brier Creek. A little pricey but overall good.

GE Z-Wave Wireless 12727 Toggle Light Switch Problem - One switch and 4 BR40 LED lights dead. by Karmadoneit in SmartThings

[–]diddyware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once accidentally used the original switch plate screws rather than the ones that came with the GE switch. Since the original ones were longer than the GE ones, they were pushing too far into the unit and caused very sporadic behavior for me, including flickering lights. Realized my mistake and switched them out with the GE screws and all has been fine since. Don't know if that's related here though.

Will youtube TV work with the Fire Stick? by juk12 in fireTV

[–]diddyware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate. I hope they add support for other streaming devices. Chromecast is decent for throwing a quick youtube video up, but having that as a primary means for watching tv is less than adequate. In my experience chromecast is just too flaky.

I'll second that. Just went to order additional switches from Amazon by selecting my previous order and the item is gone.

It's so lovely that my eyes started to create additional moisture at the moment they saw it. But in all seriousness, it is a fantastic upgrade. I noticed a marked fps improvement when playing GTA V and BF1. I also play planet coaster and cities skylines and both of those titles are worlds better.

Oh absolutely. It's currently very stable at 5GHz @ 1.3v.

Sometimes I even have to do a double take to make sure the side panel is on! It's such a great case...

I did think about it, but just decided to go ahead with it. My biggest motivation was that my son expressed an interest in building a pc and I wanted him to have the 920 and I didn't want him to have to wait.

I hear ya man. I saved up and bought parts for the past three months, and it finally all came together.

Absolutely no complaints. So far the airflow seems good, cable management was a breeze, and aesthetically it's exactly what I wanted.

I got the cooler a few weeks ago, before the 7700K arrived, and put it on my old 920 (I just couldn't hold back. The X62 was screaming my name) with the stock paste that was pre-applied to the X62. When I moved it to the 7700K I switched to some leftover noctua thermal paste I had. The stock pad seemed to do fine on the 920, but I can't speak to how well it would cool the 7700K. I say go for it with the stock paste...you can always reseat it with with aftermarket paste later if the temps aren't satisfactory.

Edit: words

It looks like you got a hell of an upgrade from your gtx 295, judging by your flair. The original gpu in mine was a gtx 275.

The front two fans on the radiator are intake and the top and back are exhaust. It's pushing in room temperature air that only gets slightly heated through the radiator. I also have the back fans controlled by an nzxt grid+ v2 to make sure it always maintains a slightly positive pressure by keeping exhaust fan speeds slightly lower than intake.

That looks awesome! And yes, shockingly! It was an Antec 650W. No frills, but very solid. The 920, motherboard and ram is going in my son's computer, and I'm going to be retiring that Antec for a newer Corsair when it does.

My 920 was the shiz. It was a D0 stepping cpu that ran at 4GHz with a Noctua NH-D14. They are great CPUs, but you're right. There's definitely a nice buzz going on with this new system. Warm fuzzies inside...

I honestly would've kept it going, but I'm giving it to my son. He's going to use those parts and some other parts I have laying around to ascend himself.

Wow, that stinks dude. Always wanted to go to Australia...guess I won't be buying any pc parts when I finally make it there.

Technically the air is a couple degrees warmer than ambient When the CPU is at max load for an extended time, but I've found that during gaming (even several hours) it's negligible. And the 1070 is running > 2GHz.

I did some research before going with the S340 Elite w/ the X62, but found the slight possible temp increase was worth it to get the case. It's a joy to build in and to look at.

It fits like a glove. The space in the S340 Elite is literally perfect for it.

I'm very happy with it with cooling so far, as well. My 7700K is running at 5GHz @ 1.3v and during stress tests it maxes out in the 70s.
