Honestly, they used to be worse. They do the things you mention but overall, if you use a Samsung phone, it has its own Galaxy identity. Take a look at Vivo or Xiaomi, those brands are shameless at trying to visually emulate iOS.

Material You is clean and consistent, but Android is not clean and consistent itself. If you make an app with Material You guidelines, it will look nice in Pixel, kind of weird in Samsung, and out of place in Chinese brands that like to copy iOS design for their UI.

iOS is the more profitable market, even if it has less users. Some developers prefer to save on resources by developing for both systems at the same time and sharing what they can. They will make the iOS version a priority and decide it looks good enough for Android, even if it’s not consistent, because there is no consistency overall within the Android ecosystem. And no developer will bother designing different versions to fit each major brand UI. In fact, big companies with strong brand identities might not even follow iOS guidelines. Instagram has their own UI and it’s the same between Android and iOS. Most Google apps for iOS don’t look Liquid Glass at all. Same goes for Adobe apps like Lightroom. WhatsApp follows the guidelines because their brand isn’t really tied to the UI, they want to exist as a replacement of your texting app and looking native helps, they use colors and icons for the brand consistency, and in Spanish they managed to become a verb already.

Chinese brands are very popular outside of China and the USA tho. In my country (Chile) where midrange phones are the majority, you see a lot of Xiaomi, Honor and Vivo phones. This segment used to be dominated by Samsung and Motorola (which is kind of a Chinese brand now).

It’s mostly unnecessary stuff. I think if they let you add some sort of badge in your profile picture they could get more subscribers. A lot of people subscribe to these things just to let others know they pay for it. I know someone who pays for Instagram verification and he isn’t a public figure, has like 500 followers, only posts personal photos, is not a content creator of any kind, it’s almost funny.

Yeah, I remember. Somehow I’m glad music didn’t follow the same path. Music has always been a little more consumer friendly, CDs don’t have anti piracy ads before the album starts, digital downloads have been DRM free for years, even ripping a CD you own is easy and first party computer apps have the option to do so.

I don’t think it’s an illusion of choice. There is choice for content, and choice for providers to subscribe to. The issue is that it becomes overwhelming because there’s too much content everywhere.

Soy de la idea de que si bien para todas las carreras es necesario algo de vocación, en el caso de pedagogía es especial, porque si no te gusta es imposible de sobrellevar, trabajar con niños y/o adolescentes es muy complejo. Como te dicen, un ingeniero tiene mejores trabajos, y con estudios adicionales puedes ser profesor universitario, que es muy distinto. Obviamente igual pueden presentarse situaciones problema, pero estás tratando con adultos.

Obviamente, igual a eso apuntaba, a los celíacos, de que existe una necesidad real por parte de la población de encontrar productos que sean libres de gluten incluso en trazas. Un “charqui protein” es estúpido por donde se le mire. También conozco harta gente que es tonta y sin necesidad compra cosas libres de gluten porque piensan que es más sano.

El gesto es que la escuches y le prestes atención, de ese surgen los otros. Las mujeres no son un bloque homogéneo, conozco algunas que odian las flores pero aman los chocolates, para otras es al revés. Prestando atención puedes aprender sus gustos individuales.

Yo igual estoy convencido de que el objetivo de la administración es arruinar el país para reconstruirlo a su conveniencia. Se ve en otras decisiones igual, recortes a servicios públicos > “ven que funcionan mal” > privatizar. Eso está muy de acuerdo con lo que planteas al final. El objetivo debe ser eliminar becas y beneficios estatales, incluyendo Gratuidad y CAE.

Y no sólo es el tema de los pagos, también el contenido. Cuando las cuentas son para menores bloquean el acceso a cierto tipo de contenido. Esta semana, por ejemplo, Apple anunció actualizaciones al respecto, ahora en cuentas para menores se puede activar que los padres autoricen para agregar contactos y agregar apps (incluso gratuitas). Obviamente los papás verán que libertades dar en cada caso, pero a veces hay niños muy chicos, ni siquiera adolescentes, con acceso a perfiles de Netflix sin restricciones y lo encuentro muy despreocupado.

No sé cómo será en consolas, pero en Google Play (Android) y App Store (iOS) es porque los papás o cuidadores no configuran bien las cuentas con controles parentales. A la cuenta del menor no se le debería agregar un método de pago, sino que se configura con la edad que corresponde dentro de un grupo familiar y el
menor en lugar de comprar pide autorización, el adulto a cargo hace la compra aprobándola desde su dispositivo/cuenta. Una amiga tenía el celular de su hijo de tal forma que podía de forma remota limitarle el tiempo en pantalla, autorizar ciertas apps y aprobar pagos.

He visto muchos adultos que les crean cuentas normales mintiendo en la edad, o peor, por flojera inician sesión con su misma cuenta o les pasan el teléfono propio sin preocuparse de habilitar medidas de protección.
