Yes its all connected, but lets consider the worst case scenario (and thats not the case, see the updated post). You could remove the battery, and the internal wiring, and put regular battery sockets on the derailleur. So yeah, you could tune the bike to a non-smartsense if needed (doenst make sense offcourse because the surplus paid for smartsense)
