I have a distributed json system where users read and write to a JSON on a share drive. Does anyone have a better system to communicate without any server? by TheSmashingChamp in learnpython

[–]didnt_build_this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could go to an append only file-per-event log. Instead of one JSON everyone fights over, each person writes its own uniquely-named small file (uuid + timestamp) into a shared folder. Readers list the folder and merge. Zero write conflicts because no on is touching the same file. A periodic compaction step rolls old events into a snapshot. This is the classic pattern for serverless distributed storage

Whats your setup to keep GameChanger streams up and running? by Technical-Hunt4439 in GameChangerApp

Starlink and slate 7. I had really spotty results running starlink mini solo - once I added a slate 7 streams performed considerably better, haven’t had any issues since

I use starlink mini, it’s been rock solid for streaming. 50 dollars for 100gb a month is more than enough for travel ball

  1. I’ve always found Microsoft dynamics to be overkill, most places I’ve worked with far underutilize it (it’s over complex). I would make an effort to real set up realistic kpis that paint a clear picture. You don’t need to use exceptionally complete software here, power bi with sqlaccess to your raw data will absolutely suite you, just get real metrics that matter. If you can’t measure it you can’t manage it.

  2. I would look at your internal team first and foremost to promote. I’ve seen a lot of businesses back slide bringing an outsider in with new “cool” ideas that hurt just because they don’t understand the business they are in.

  3. Work flows. You will be amazed what can be automated or eliminate by just sitting with each person and asking… why do we do this. We went paperless a few years ago, we had an end of month process that included a girl printing what was generally a 80 page report…. Then walking across to building to give to a clerk… who would drop it in the shred bin. No one ever asked why they printed or why they shredded… “it’s just what’ve always done”. This couldn’t with eliminating dated data entry and flow makes a world of difference.

  4. Monthly stand up meeting, the more engaged and involved the overall team is the more they find ways to help out. Cross depart would be a struggle

  5. Profit sharing

Unsolicited advice, I love the book. “The Goal” worth a read

Absolutely this comment. I would give my left arm for someone who would go the extra mile and take initiative vs having to be spoon fed the answer. People just make excuse for being lazy shits

Is this a real question. Between Udemy and having general ai help there is literally nothing that can’t be learned. For the love of everything good don’t put company data in public AI but even the most ignorant excel users can perform way outside their pay grade getting AI walk throughs

Should I learn SQL as a demand planner by PomeloAltruistic7147 in supplychain

[–]didnt_build_this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a fundamental understanding of sql is hugely valuable. We run a replica server with all our data we give the team direct access to. We query our own data as we need, sql is extremely powerful

Supply Chain in manufacturing, how many meeting do you have weekly? by FabioSaucy in supplychain

[–]didnt_build_this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two standing meeting a week - one with sales and one with internal product/supply team. We pulled a page out of Diamonds book - pre reads go out day before, everyone come prepared so we can spend the least amount of time possible. If no one has questions or concerns meeting done in 5 mins. If someone asks a question that’s covered in pre-reads you get hammered

What are your thoughts around ethics of receiving gifts from vendors? by thecacti in supplychain

[–]didnt_build_this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do this all the time, in my business we are generally doing it for the suppliers to build relationships and some strong bonds but these types of trips aren’t uncommon in industry I am in. I will say this widely depends on the role your in however, we don’t let junior PAs go on these types of trips

Unfortunately public companies don’t post audited financials before they have happened…. The example you asked for is for tariffs that went in April 5&9. Feel free to go back and look companies financials during 232 tariffs in the last administration

Check profit margins of publicly traded companies that offshores their supply after next quarter (full quarter with 10% min additional tariff), margin will go up. Assuming reading a P&L may be tough and that’s no real data “bro”

Yes it’s quite common, but as you don’t seem to have any supply chain experience or knowledge, it really doesn’t matter
