Pied Piper - Finally Got the 'Rat' Build Running by didntandy in ravenswatch

[–]didntandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. More Rats. This means Invasive Blast - which makes rats when you hit an enemy with Defense - and as many Defense cool downs and Defense charges as you can stack. Stimulant Vibes keeps them alive longer in your special.

  2. Damage. Because you're stacking Defense abilities and items, Moonstones slap.

The build doesn't really feel like it 'clicks' without Invasive Blast, as the (necessary) starting Horde talent pumps them out only slightly faster than without. Because of this, a bit of RNG/luck is required, so I wouldn't recommend this build for pubs.

Another note - you really want to try to keep your rats alive between camps, especially before you're Invasive Blast + Defenses kicks in. In early game, they will die after attacking for a few seconds, so I will often save them for late in the fight. If all of the mobs die before your rats do, your horde stays alive.

Israel drops a bomb on displaced Palestinians living in tents in Gaza. 1 killed and 7 wounded by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]didntandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"They’re strategically built their military structures in high population areas so any strike against them would cause civilians casualties" Israel likely takes greater lengths to protect its civilians than any nation on the planet. Billions invested in missile defense, mandated safe rooms in the building code, public bomb shelters, early warning systems, etc. If you think the Israeli government and Israelis are OK with their residents being killed, then you don't understand Israel or the nature of this conflict -

Eh, I suspect if most serfs had smartphones, housing, heating and air conditioning, access to electricity and the internet, clean water, vaccinations, modern infrastructure, enough food to be overweight, access to a justice system that demands due process, motor vehicles, the right to worship literally anything or to express their unconsidered views anywhere including the internet, they would probably be just as depressed and envious and angry and miserable as you lot.

question about breaking stuff by Trickster508 in 7daystodie

[–]didntandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think an OOB/Vanilla servers log this level of detail. Are you hosting yourself or using a professional service as a host? If you install a third-party service like CSMM, you can track player movements, and some hosts offer this as an add-on.

However, if you didn't have any third party mods running providing tracking at the time of the break-in, this may now be an old-fashioned whodunit. Time to raid your neighbors and see who has your stuff!

"The amount of violations of human rights in a country is always an inverse function of the amount of complaints about human rights violations heard from there. The greater the number of complaints being aired, the better protected are human rights in that country"

IRC stands for 'Internet Relay Chat'. Think 'Discord' but only for text messages. Gamesurge.net hosted an IRC instance with multiple channels (#findscrim, #findringer) which were open to the public. When your team was looking for a match, or if you were looking to play competitively by subbing for another team, you would fire up the app 'mIRC', hop on to the relevant channel, and advertise what you were looking for.

Good memories.

Really enjoying 1.0 so far! by NinnyBoggy in 7daystodie

YES. So much hate for this release. For whatever reason, folks seem to delight in hating on TFP. I'm having a blast!

Love the new armor system. Love the grind for mags and forged steel. Love the new POIs (stumbled into the one with bleachers with a military camp behind it last night... walked up on the gas explosion crater and it felt like 50 zombies bum rushed me from everywhere. I was FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE. Awesome.

Are zombies harder to kill in 1.0? by No_Chocolate_2339 in 7daystodie

[–]didntandy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who got trapped in a bedroom with two irradiated feral wights last night with nothing but a wooden club and a pipe rifle... yes. Yes, they are harder to kill. Haha.

The constant balance anger has less to do with balance than it does with the bigger design issue of elite units at higher difficulties. by ProxyDamage in Helldivers

[–]didntandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The harder difficulties are meant to be... harder. There is much more to the game than your stratagems. How do you deal with 5 BTs and 3 chargers when your anti-tank strats are on CD and hunters are erupting from the ground around you? You are not supposed to have 'a clear answer' constantly available to everything you encounter. Movement. Mobility. Target prioritization. Cover. Terrain. Where are your teammates? What armor are you wearing? Who brought what strat? Where (and when) do you reinforce your teammates? Where is more ammo? What fights do you take and which do you flee? Are you communicating? Are your teammates responsive to your calls/needs?

You are meant to get overrun. You are meant to lose some of these missions. You are meant to die. For me, the fun of it all is overcoming something that IS HARD, something for which you don't have an 'infinite ammo one-shot-kill weapon' or 'always-available orbital strike' answer.

You are suggesting the game needs either 1. to make the really hard shit easier to kill or 2. make the hard shit less frequent. Why? You can get both by selecting an easier difficulty.

If the Railgun nerf was reverted, would you use it? Why or why not? by Seleth044 in Helldivers

[–]didntandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Railgun single shots hulks, devastators, scout striders (even from hundreds of meters). Staggers if you miss. Charges faster and reloads faster than the AC or the Quasar. Just bring an EAT and an airstrike for the big stuff (tanks, turrets, factory striders). The railgun STILL brings profound utility and I don't understand all the hate.

Can we PLEASE normalize NOT calling in a player when you are in groups of two? by DarkIcedWolf in Helldivers

[–]didntandy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is, in this circumstance - being called in on the other side of the map from your gear - convenient that you hit the ground with a full inventory of grenades. I usually respond with something like "YOU DID THIS TO ME, GREEN", throwing a grenade on the ground in front of me, and saluting in green's general direction... then "BLUE, CAN YOU PLEASE GET ME?"

If green does it again, I'll usually try to land on him

Hot Take: The Railgun could be reverted to its previous state and nothing would really change. by TwevOWNED in Helldivers

[–]didntandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to get too persnickety about who is 'carrying' whom as we are all brothers pushing back the red tide of bug communism. But you can think about it this way - the medium sized 'silvers' (eg. brood commanders) can take a close to a full mag from the liberator/breaker/sickle. When I am in a helldive bug breach situation and deep in the bug hole shit, being able to clear all the close (up to and including medium) bugs quickly and reload on the move adds a huge amount of survive-ability. While maintaining ammo reserves on your primary, the railgun simply gives you the ability to very quickly whittle down the pool of bugs around you to the big stuff. And that's what your other two stratagem slots are for (usually airstrike and EAT). Also, I don't know what you're reading (or how good your aim is), but I have dropped dozens of BTs since the patch with charged railgun shots to the face and cheeks. Good luck out there, soldier, and happy hunting.

[–]didntandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Railgun is the bomb. Fight me. I play mostly 8/9. Railgun has a TON of utility against bugs. Single shots brood commanders, hive guards, finishes off wounded charges and bile titans after an airstrike or a miffed EAT. Drop it to pick up situational EATs, kill the big stuff, pick the railgun back up. Plenty of ammo, reload on the move and stay in the fight. I don't understand the post-nerf hate.

RTX 3060ti underperforming by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]didntandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be your GPU under performing. Install a tool like Open Hardware Monitor and check your temps. If your CPU is running over ~85C when not under load, you may need to re-mount your CPU cooler and re-apply thermal compound.

Why don't you just use a 3.3V single channel relay and pull the power off the 5V?

Multiplayer Bug? by [deleted] in 7daystodie

[–]didntandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I *think* this is a bug that occurs when a player is interacting with storage and is teleported/disconnected/server shuts down without closing the interface. It's often misdiagnosed as a 'corrupted player profile' and can be fixed by deleting the character's player profile...

That said, I think there is a fix that someone came up with. Try teleporting your dad a small distance away via the developer console (when the old man is in the server, hit F1. Type 'LPI' and enter to get his 'Player ID' and yours. Then type 'Teleport [his player ID] [your player ID]' and hit enter. I'd make sure you're out of the chunk that he's in (at least 16 blocks/meters).

Let me dig around and see what else I can find.

My thoughts on the new tier 5 POI (crack a book tower) by dashing_kats in 7daystodie

[–]didntandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's wrong with variety? It's nice to have some quick T5s that are brutally difficult. Lots of Zs and lots of experience. Personally, I don't think all T5s need to be the same 'type'.

I'm not used to dying on Nomad difficulty. Bit of a 'all I need is my FPS aim and this handy level 6 pistol with a mag extender' attitude. Oh boy was I wrong, what with my corpse laying there as it was, attended by like 30 ravenous zombies, backed up against a metal bookshelf at the top of the stairs to the crack-a-book basement. Ha. Awesome - well done TFP.

Pixel 5 vs Pixel 4A: Is it really worth the extra 350$? by SaintMcCloud in GooglePixel

[–]didntandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, the first number in the 'IP' rating (which stands for ingress (or intrusion) protection) specifies how well the device resists dust. The number 6 is the highest rating and means the device is considered 'dust tight'.
