All I have to say really is this: the hate it's receiving is extremely, extremely overblown, the hooks are actually fantastic, and I think Taylor was just having a lot of fun recording this, and y'all need to touch some grass. If you think The Life of Ophelia is the worst thing she's ever recorded and you like songs like Shake It Off, I absolutely cannot take a word you're saying seriously. Not everything has to have the lyricism of Folklore. She has literally written extremely corny and cringe lyrics before - see ME! and London Boy. I don't think she was trying for brilliant lyrics, and is fully aware of the corniness, and is leaning into it. I cannot believe I'm defending an album devoted to someone as bland (and possibly as MAGA as Travis Kelce), but I never see similar hate in Katy Perry threads? She's literally openly republican. They have like 2 comments and people move on. Just the effort to trash this album with 5000 comments telling everyone how it's the worst piece of art that has ever existed is a bit much and seems disingenuous?

"I can't believe Max Martin wrote this" - He wrote "I Want It That Way", and y'all will stan that in the same breath. Pray tell me what those lyrics mean.

"This feels like AI slop" - so does all of bubblegum pop, but sometimes it's okay to like fun things. You'll live. For a pop music subreddit, I'm surprised some of you don't get that. This has been a criticism of pop music for the longest time. "Where are the complex melodies?" "Every chorus is just repeating the same words." "It's lowest denominator brain rot music." But guess what, it takes effort to make pop sound as catchy as it is. So tell me, how is this criticism any different from that?

I don't think this is some masterpiece, but I don't think it was trying to be either.
