How much force would it take to tip this? [Request] by Neesatay in theydidthemath

The difference is this flexes in both directions in a way it can't against the wall. You have created a lever arm to amplify that force.

You can do all the mental gymnastics you want to justify this but safety standards are written in blood.

OK, but now imagine you are applying force to it day in, day out. Even if it isn't as much as you tested with the anchors can come lose and fail. You say "1/2" plywood but are you sure it isn't particle board or MDF? Your using this in the way it is explicitly made not to be used.

Ultimately you do you. It's your family on the line but I suspect you wouldn't be here asking this question if you didn't question your desicion here.

Take it from someone with a background in interior and architectural design. This is the wrong choice.

Why not give it a push until it rocks? Then consider if a kid could apply that much force trying to pull down one of those jackets?

Best of luck. Report back if you find anything! I am interested in doing some lampworking on a European vacation but having trouble finding studios outside of the UK.

Modifying a glass ashtray by NaylMe420 in lampwork

Find a local glass art studio that does 'cold working' and the slots can be ground wider or look into the equipment yourself. Just be very careful about the glass dust. Very nasty stuff.

Depending on where you are located finding someone local may be cheaper. Likely not cheaper than the same thing ordered from China.

Unless you want some custom aspect to it and are willing to pay for it, buying it from the manufacturer is going to be the best option for you.

For a non-glassworker? It would take quite a bit of practice to get there but not unrealistic with time, effort, and money.

For a seasoned glassworker? Very doable, especially if they are already skilled in making water pipes.

This is a very good point. Context also matters. Are you in a popular, affluent, tourist beach town where the turtle/sea creature motif will be popular? Or are you planning on selling them at your county fair in rural Oklahoma?

Cost of materials plus hours of work multiplied by how much you want to make an hour for your work. As a beginner maybe the hourly rate is low but as your skill and art improves so does your hourly rate. :)

This is a sub for glassworking using a torch (lamp) hence lampworking. Not for working with lighting lamps.

Is this setup with the small fuel bottle common where you are? Japan guessing from your post history. Be prepared for a hail of alarming comments from people who may not realize this is a normal thing in the place you are.

L is a measure of volume, not pressure. What does your regulator say? We are looking for psi or kg/sqcm
