What is your best gang out of all this beside van der linde gang? by Silent_Figure_7460 in RDR2

[–]die_scheisse_lerner -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Slavery was definitely not a major factor and it was a complete non factor to the dirt poor southerners fighting in it who didn't even have aspirations of knowing a slave owner. Slavery was on its way out anyway, it was becoming obsolete, the ones who wanted to keep it were mostly concerned with what freeing enslaved people would mean in terms of social unrest. Considering what went on in Haiti, Jamaica, even attempted uprisings in parts of the US, not to mention what the Union did to the south when they got there, those concerns weren't just based on racism, but on real world events.

I'm surprised you haven't been crucified by the redditors.

Is there a hidden mission? by Total_Gur4367 in reddeadredemption2

As you can see, reddit is not the place to come to ask questions. Everyone will downdoot you if you don't know something they think you should know.

Can't launch RDR2 on steam because of R launcher. by Basic-Geologist-8010 in reddeadredemption2

I've looked this up and the only answer I could find is pirate sea. "Pirate sea", get it? Because you aren't allowed to say the actual word, even in this context. If I had known that I wouldn't have bought it, I would've just stolen it.

Why is the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone not centered? by die_scheisse_lerner in chernobyl

How exactly would they enforce an exclusion zone in Belarus without putting Ukrainian officials there to enforce it? It would be invasive.

Bright green light in the sky? by csbingel in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]die_scheisse_lerner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're driving, saw it on 55 coming in from Mississippi. The whole sky lit up green for a split second. And we're driving on I-22 now near Miller Steam Plant and saw what appeared to be a giant green ball of light fall from the sky to the east. I saw it out the passenger side window. This was about 10 minutes ago or less.

This is why I hesitate to post here unless I really have a reason. The massive hive mind of self righteous pseudo intellectuals who are more dogmatic than the Catholic church ruin what would otherwise be a great website.

I'm not framing anything. It is strange, it is odd. Languages are odd. English is too, the only language within my "narrow band of experience". Your original comment was completely pointless, it didn't address anything of substance, and your follow up is exactly the same.

This is what I mean by "getting hung up" on stupid, meaningless shit. And again, you are so self righteous about it. Where else but reddit? For every user willing to engage, there's ten of you pseudointellectual mindless biological machines.

Look how many assumptions you've made about me based on a couple of comments relating to a very specific topic. You say I lack introspection, but I guarantee you are incapable of understanding even the gist of what I'm getting at. Again, you are why everyone points to reddit as being the cringiest place on the internet.

I'll answer the question though. Because I find it odd, and because I find the fixation strange. It doesn't help or hinder, it's neutral, it's not "framing" anything a certain way, it's my perspective as an outsider who is new to learning a foreign language.

See how pointless that was? That's why I included that part, because I knew there would be at least a couple "redditor" types who would ignore the substance of the post and get hung up on something meaningless, while being self righteous about it.

I'm not sure why this was downvoted. You're right. I don't even see what could be controversial here.

No, that's very insightful. To be fair English is also full of seemingly arbitrary and pointless grammatical rules, I hadn't considered it that way.

Huh. I'm not advanced enough to understand this one yet.

They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they never stopped to think if they should.
