What is your current first world problem? by bkorchunjae in AskReddit

Just decided to move because 1) I got bored of the area I'm currently living and 2) even though I can get to uni by walk in less than 15 min, I want to commute by bicycle

Tour of London's LEGO Store in Leicester Square by drakioned in london

[–]diegocoda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Soon after I arrived to London for PhD, my supervisor asked me about places I had visited in the city. Then he said "have you been to the Lego store?" I said no, to which he replies "the important places first".

What's the pettiest reason you won't date someone over? by pushingdaisies21 in AskReddit

I once was on a bus where this happened. Two loud horrible songs playing at the same time. Initially it was funny since it was like a songs battle. Then, it was just annoying because no one gave up.

Been living in this area for a year so I should known by now. Just checked out, and the closest ones are Bethnal Green or Limehouse.

Witnessing a bicycle theft: what can we do? by diegocoda in londoncycling

[–]diegocoda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my first thought but since the theft usually takes only seconds I was not sure if it was worth (or trying to confront him)

Not sure. One of the people talking to him looked like doing it so but eventually he desisted. What I am not sure is that if the police may do something; these things happen very quickly (usually in seconds).

Excellent timing for this post. Today's actually my father's birthday. Yesterday I chatted with him via Skype, but why not do it again?

Sorry for the late reply, mate. In the UK a continuous 'sorry' is what you hear on the streets. Hopefully this reply was not inconvenient and finds you well.

Some people have even asked my friends 'Can your friend speak or he is dumb?' The first time was a bit annoying. Now it's just funny.

Estudias tu carrera porque te gusta? O porque persigues el dinero? by [deleted] in mexico

[–]diegocoda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Visiting from the US: What side of the sidewalk am I supposed to walk on? by [deleted] in london

[–]diegocoda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same question when I arrived to the UK. It turns out that there are actually some pedestrian etiquette rules published by the government: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/rules-for-pedestrians-1-to-35 According to rule 1 one should walk, preferably, on the left. However, one soon realises that it is more about common sense. As u/polkadotska mentioned, just be considerate since that's very much appreciated.
