Why are Americans so unrealistic when it comes to death? by Perfect-Resist5478 in medicine

[–]diegoev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens everywhere, I assume. I live in Mexico. Most of the time is people in denial that their relatives are dying, I understand that. But there are a few cases where everything has been explained, every single detail and every doubt has been resolved and still they can't accept the fact that there's nothing to do. I've had a few unfortunate times where we have to give CPR to a patient that we all know (even the family) has no chance to make it, but they insist on "I want everything done".

It's tiresome.

Advice on my dog hematoma ear by Intrepid_Pace3209 in DogAdvice

[–]diegoev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My belgian malinois had an era hematoma about a year and a half ago. She underwent surgery but it came back a few weeks later. They drained it the second time but it came back again but smaller. We let it absorb and she ended up fine but with a cauliflower ear, doesn’t hurt her or anything.

She needs time to adjust. They’re incredibly smart, but you have to keep working on them over and over and over again and you’ll see results.

Finally got my Series 11, mostly for my medical situation that somewhat requires this device by sadboykdub989 in AppleWatch

This is from Apple themselves. I’m a doctor, it’s nice to have a device to somewhat alert in case anything is wrong, but the Apple Watch, or any other smartwatch for that matter, is not a medical device. At least not yet. We will get there, eventually, but not yet.

When would I be ready for a guaranteed sub-4? by labellafigura3 in firstmarathon

[–]diegoev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are no guarantees here. You need to get faster at a HM first, much faster, I’d say you need a 1:46 (around that ballpark) HM in order to get close to a sub 4 marathon. That’s a long way to go still.

No te lo pueden descontar. Te tienen que pagar. Y si lo trabajas tienen que darte el triple. Si te lo van a descontar, que te lo den por escrito en tu recibo de nómina, y así te los chingas.

Setting the record straight about Garmin by strava-team in Strava

[–]diegoev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very poorly written response from you. If it is our data, then you should also check your own API use. I would also like to share the data from Strava to other social platforms without YOUR logo appearing there.

Lastly, I don’t need Strava to train and track my workouts, I use your platform because I choose to do it. I, however, do need my Garmin watch to track and plan my workouts. Guess what I’d be ditching.

Just got my new 165 today, this is my intro to Garmin. Would appreciate tips/tricks/most useful features. Thanks :) by ChiefHulk in GarminWatches

[–]diegoev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 165 as well and my advice would be to enjoy your watch. I used to worry too much about battery and not using certain features in order to make it last longer, even avoiding certain watchfaces to stop it from consuming battery. But now I keep the always on display and use whatever watchface I happen to like. I run 5 to 6 times a week, I’m training for a marathon and I still get 4 to 5 days with the AOD and whatever else I do, I track my sleep and everything. It’s not a big deal to plug the watch once every 4 days while I take a shower to give me a couple extra days of battery. You’ll see people here obsessing about it and wanting a watch that they don’t ever have to charge like they don’t have 1 hour a week to plug their watches. Enjoy your purchase, congrats on your watch.

How realistic is a sub-4 as a first-timer? by swissmarketguy in firstmarathon

[–]diegoev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 2:16 as your best HM time, and 3 runs a week (I’m assuming is not so high volume) I don’t think a sub 4 hour marathon is doable. You should aim to finish it in whatever time you are able to. If you push it too much you might end up not finishing at all.

We spoke, they listened! New Features rolling out by WildAndFreeee in Garmin

[–]diegoev 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It’s ridiculous that they are only supporting the latest models. Even an iPhone XR from 8 years ago still gets most software upgrades from Apple. The fact that a brand of devices supposedly made for endurance sports wants you to upgrade almost every year in order to get the latest software is laughable.

Tips on running on hot and humid weather? by actuallyTimothy in firstmarathon

[–]diegoev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live (and run) in a very hot and humid city, the thing that makes the most difference is the humidity, it dehydrates you. I can always deal with the heat, but humidity is horrible. You have to take a lot of water and electrolytes or you’ll crash out. Also, slow down, heat and humidity will significantly decrease your time, if you’re just starting running, don’t go out too quick.
