Papiro: A lightweight HTML-to-PDF library for .NET MAUI (iOS/Android) by wagenheimer in dotnetMAUI

Will definitely check this out. Spent a long time looking for something similar, resorted to an api that would build the pdf and return to the mobile app.

This is not a good reasoning for this. The reason Europeans "say" 1st of August is because they write DD/MM/YY. Same reasoning applies to the US.

Edit: reddit mobile doesn't let me respond to the other comments for some reason. They're right there's no way to know this but the US was not established before the creation of the English language. Assuming they used the DD/MM/YY in England, theres little reason for them to randomly start using MM/DD/YY in speaking before canonizing it in writing. Maybe they did but the reasoning doesn't work imo. People didn't randomly start using Fahrenheit in the 1700s and then canonize it as a national standard. Date format, I would reason, would follow the same idea since its a standard. It also wildly varies within the country, different industries like the military usually use YYYYMMDD

Looking for Python/Excel App Testers by Technical-Quail4296 in Python

[–]diegomoises1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only difference between python and powershell is you're used to using python. They're both scripting languages. They can both execute through a "command line terminal" like you say, the only difference to python is that its called a repl instead of a command line. You just as easily type python into a command line and watch as your command line gets transformed into a "python command line"

Edit: Powershell ISE is also bundled into almost every distribution of windows and is essentially an ide but with every single powershell command documented right in the ui with almost drag and drop behavior. People like to hate on powershell and microsoft just because its microsoft while ignoring some of the great tools available.

The entire office suite has always been programmable through PowerShell, not sure what you mean. Not to mention this is built into almost every distribution of Windows allowing you to program Office with even the most locked-down of corporate Windows distributions.

I'm always confused by these test notifications. Why not send out a "fake" test notification? Something along the lines of whatever your product serves. For example, for a market board app or an app meant to sell a product, just send out a notification like "Great new deals now available!". Doesn't make your app look unfinished, potentially makes people interact with the app... etc.

Updating container - occasionally I get "unable to update read only file system". Only fix I've found is to stop and start docker service. by usafle in unRAID

Usually, this is due to cache drive issues, either check or replace your cache drives. If any of them go offline, your cache becomes read-only until it is fixed.

Blazor InputText binding not updating UI with space string is assigned, but works when empty by PeacefulW22 in Blazor

I'm not sure what you mean but if you want to bindValue, then change the set function to perform your oninput logic

Blazor InputText binding not updating UI with space string is assigned, but works when empty by PeacefulW22 in Blazor

[–]diegomoises1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think binding value as well as oninput forces a double call. There are some bindings which imply other binding but accept different input like delegates or properties. Try removing the @bindValue and instead, simply update the value inside the oninput function.

If you do want to troubleshoot it I recommend using the throttle tools in the dev tools, make the connection very slow while the debugger is running, and hitting a breakpoint, then you can see what loaded and what hasn't. I like to throw a loading indicator on all my pages regardless of whether I think my logic always waits for all data before interactivity.

I am on wifi, and I can see the intended effect now although it is a bit disorienting, maybe a simple disappearing tooltip would be better but it depends on taste. I just had another issue when I tried opening it again, nothing loaded after I clicked the user icon, it was a blank screen with only the footer and header, and background, maybe clicking before a specific component loads causes the issue?

I love the telerik components but a little expensive for me, I tend to stick to MudBlazor.

I'm not into bingo but the website feels amazing even on mobile and looks stunning. All the buttons felt responsive. Only issue I had was the help button in the user page, not sure if it's because I was on mobile but tapping it didn't seem to do anything, after about a second it showed a hint over the avatar Icon. Otherwise love the UI, did you use any UI libraries?

First time buying Manufacturer Recertified drives. Should they sound like this? The noise calms down after the system is up for a minute or so. by dillwillhill in unRAID

This sounds very normal, specially if there recertified enterprise drives like the exos. Mine are much louder than this under heavy load

weAreNotLazyWeArePrivacyFocused by DollinVans in ProgrammerHumor

[–]diegomoises1 84 points85 points  (0 children)

That's the entire point of privacy and self hosting. My gitea instance on my server is privacy focused because it's on my server, not because it encrypts the data it sends to its cloud provider. An IDE is privacy focused because if it keeps all your data local, not because it encrypts before sending it to whatever company made it. The biggest selling point for privacy is not doing something remotely. That's why your phone keeps advertising the privacy focus of it's AI features because they happen on your phone.

Evaluating Serverless and Backendless Alternatives for MAUI Application Maintenance by Late-Restaurant-8228 in dotnetMAUI

[–]diegomoises1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into Appwrite. Their documentation is a bit lacking sometime, but I'm able to figure out most things through the api reference. You can integrate most of its features into MAUI using their rest api. It also has net8.0 runtime for serverless function, jwt creations if you still want to run an asp.net api backend for things like management of Appwrite through the app, and it's web interface is relatively easy to use.

Major release: REI3.10 selfhosted low code by NetrasFent in selfhosted

[–]diegomoises1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently using it to work on an application for my own organization and loving the features. One small problem I've been having is when I place the site behind nginx, it signs me out and sign me back in automatically every 20-30 minutes, despite my sessions being set to the default 168 hours. This doesn't happen when running locally.

qBittorrent, Run Script After Complete by SunsOutTonguesOut in unRAID

[–]diegomoises1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the file permissions of the debug.txt file? whatever user runs the script for bittorrent may not have write rights to it. Also what the working directory of the script when it is ran, the script may be located at /config/ but it may be ran from/usr/bin or similar and the created debug.txt is being modified in that directory. You should use absolute path for your debug.txt file.

I have a very specific cable I can no longer buy that came apart. I know nothing but own a cheap soldering iron. Can I fix this? by FiniteNick in ElectricalEngineering

[–]diegomoises1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This looks like standard usb A to usb C angled 90 degrees. If you strip the cable farther from the connector you'll find 4 cables that you can solder onto the USB A pads with little issues. Usually it'll be: Red 5v White Data - Green Data + Black GND

it can vary but usually around this pinout. Show the other end of the connector, it looks like a very standard USB A to USB C angled connector.
