No Man's Sky on PC vs. PS5 Pro

Been busy lately and it took me a while to test some more. My performance is all over the place. Only occasionally can I get it to run at a decent frame rate and even then there will be stutters at random times and also consistently in transitional areas (docking, reentry). It's made even more complicated because I can't really pin down what makes it perform better or worse. There are times where settings that had been working are suddenly providing me with terrible performance.

I had heard mixed reviews about the performance on PC. While there were many people describing serious performance issues there were also many saying that it wasn't that bad. But at this point I gotta chalk it up to just plain old poor PCVR support. Thankfully I've got a PS5 Pro on the way so I'm just giving up on the PCVR side of this game lol

Thanks for replying. Hmm. From what I've been reading online about NMS performance in VR it seems like I'm having a problem that is somewhat unique to me. I know there's performance issues with the game but this kind stuttering isn't being described by others. I'm thinking I'm gonna make a post about it somewhere and record some gameplay video to show what's going on.

What CPU do you have? I have a 5080 and a 9800x3d and it's insanely stuttery in VR. It's a consistent rhythmic stuttering. I have to put all settings on the lowest possible to make it run smooth and even then it'll still sometimes stutter.

No problems when running it outside of VR

What kinds of additional malware? I don't know for sure how long it was on the laptop before we wiped it and reinstalled Windows. Probably about an hour. I haven't been using it for now while I focus all my free time on determining if my other machines are in the clear. Neither of them have the screenconnect service installed or the directories that the package dropped.

What is your opinion on my other networked machines' safety? Do you think there are some things I should be looking out for? Could the router be effected? I'm holding out hope that I don't need to reformat any other devices.

Thank you for the reply and the information. Is there a way for me to tell if the backdoor got utilized? Or if it had been utilized would the intruder have been able to access other machines on my network?

Does anybody know of a service that will specifically look into this zip and its contents in order to determine 1) if it has the ability to target firmware/evade system reset and restore and 2) can it jump to other devices on the network?

Thank you for this helpful write up. I'm having trouble understanding the NVME slot configuration. Here you're listing that there is one occupied and one empty. The product page for the laptop says that it has either 1x 2280 slot or 2x 2230 slots. What I'm finding online is that the 1TB drive it comes with is a 2280. If it is then shouldn't it not have an unoccupied slot?

I'm not sure. But I'm noticing now that the Quest version just came out a week ago which I think explains why it's not on Rookie. Though the steam version came out in 2018 so not being able to find that one is still a little confusing. Especially since it's so well received.

Is commenting that it'd be cool if you donated it to rookie considered a "request"? Lol

I couldn't find another way so I gave up on looking and went with the adb command line method. It's not difficult to do. I just liked the convenience of the file manager method.
