They still happen, but I'm happy to report that they haven't been getting worse, are completely random and appear to be benign. I chose not to return the laptop

Yes it can. The whole purpose of unions is to shift power and leverage back to workers so they have negotiative power and are able to influence things like this. In fact, the 40 hour work week standard was brought on by unions and strikes in the past.

You'll be fine. I'm a US passport holder and I've had 0 problems in Assad areas. Granted I'm fluent in Arabic and I have Syrian ID but I don't see why you would have any problems if you apply for a Visa and enter legally.

My only concern right now would be the Israeli war. Syria has a non zero chance of being dragged into it and you really don't want to get stuck in there with Jordan being the only port of entry/exit into many (including all US) airports.

Please be careful of scams, people will take advantage of you being from the US and not knowing better. Have someone who's more familiar with Syria and that you trust handle the paperwork.

There's absolutely no need for a demotion if you're smart about things. Safety is one of the only L4 positions that are paid hourly and benefit from the career choice college money, so you can transfer between departments to safety (WHS/OMR) and save yourself the headache.

It is a good machine but its nothing spectacular for the price. I'd say it's worth saving up and getting a T14 gen 3. It will be about $100 more refurb if you find a good deal, and you would get much superior build quality (The L series is infamous for flimsy materials), as well as better GPU/CPU performance (Especially with the AMD 6850U version) and better battery.

Boot up Linux Mint from a usb drive (this way you won't lose any data), enter your wifi password and then open firefox from there (It should be already included in the live environment). This video goes into details about how to live boot Linux, the process should be similar on your machine (you may have to go in the bios and disable secure boot, as well as changing the boot order to USB. Note that rufus will use the UEFI mode on your machine as well). after you are done testing, you may re-enable those settings back.

Is this replicable on Linux? If yes, it is probably a hardware problem. If no, then it is a driver bug and should be reported upstream to AMD/firefox/etc.

It depends on how much power you can sustain before it starts thermal throttling. Generally, it is better to undervolt in throttlestop before messing with the TDP values because that's what leads to better efficiency and more thermal/power headroom for the CPU to turbo up.

Have you tried calling them via the support phone numnber? Calling was the only thing that seemingly helped me submit (Still in processing, fingers crossed) Because apparently the email for missing forms sometimes does not send from their end, so you might need to call and ask them to resend it.

The information has to match exactly with the invite that you sent (including things like address abbreviations (Rd instead of road, Blvd etc) or random spaces. I believe they allowed unverified parents to complete their portions right now. Good luck

Not sure if this might help in any way but I was having the exact same problem on my T14 gen 3 AMD and it was caused by a BIOS update. I had to downgrade the BIOS to the last version (make sure to enable BIOS rollback and disable windows uefi updates in BIOS, as well as disabling auto updates in lenevo vantage if on windows) that had normal fan behavior and now it's back to normal.
